I was acquaintances with a guy on the swim team at ND. He was in this 400 level class that I had aced the year before. He asked me for my notes, I gave them to him. Apparently he couldn’t make heads or tails of them, so he asks me if I could take a look at his final paper. I say sure, I’ll skim it.

Guys, it was like a 7th grader had tried really hard on it, it was that dumb. I was shocked. Are we really giving academic admissions leniency to swimmers? When their program absolutely bleeds money for the school? Imagine how much more leeway we would have to take 17 ACT defensive tackles from Memphis if we didn’t let in any non-revenue sport kids who just couldn’t hack it academically. And regardless, the swim team absolutely bleeds money.

Long story short, shut down the swim team and divert all its funding to more NIL.

Oh don't worry, that's eventually what all schools will do after that recent ruling got handed down

It'll be football paired with women's bball for Title IX purposes--and then perhaps men's bball if it's profitable for a particular school and then whichever random women's sport one may see fit to satisfy Title IX

And it will be hilarious to see when "pay the players" guy seamlessly morphs into "keep all sports" guy without missing a beat

Freeman looking across Leahy Dr at the RAC, calls Pete up and tells him to axe the swim team and build him a covered garage for his fleet of Ferrari's. The roof is to have a heliport for his recently acquired swagcoptor which he bought at Kevin Sumlin's bankruptcy sale.

Let it be volleyball! Nothing beats a footer in a skimpy pair of bunhuggers and knee pads.

Based on my experiences going to swim parties when I was a student in the late 1980s and early 1990s, I suspect this is a hazing issue.

Yeah I was thinking this was more of a Northwestern "Car Wash" thing

So they were gambling on each other's times? Is that actually bad?
