I will be pumped if Golden is the new DC/LB coach.

My concern though, is that O'Connell has been announced, for a while now, as the new head coach of the Vikings. Why can't Golden be announced? He's had the same opportunities to interview as O'Connell, and Cincinnati to to South Bend is a hell of a lot closer than LA to Minneapolis. If he can't be announced because he hasn't actually been ok'd/interviewed/approved or even consented on his part, then it seems like MF (and us) are counting our eggs before they've hatched. If everything has to wait until after the Super Bowl, then Golden seems like he could very much so be a free agent and considering all options on the table for him. If that's the case, then it could be ND DC vs. multiple other opportunities for himself, or put another way, ND vs. the field.

Maybe I'm missing something or am overthinking things. But the optics of this don't seem to indicate it's anywhere close to a foregone conclusion that Golden will be the next DC at ND.
I may have missed it, but I have not heard an official announcement from the Vikings. Although many reporters are assuming it to be true, as recently as yesterday an article referred to O'Connell as "expected to be hired" as the Vikings head coach.

Hansen said he heard Phil Parker (Iowa) would have listened had we pursued further.

If the Bengals pull out the win tonight and we get Golden, it’ll be nice to flash a couple rings to recruits by Golden and Kareem. Go Irish (and Bengals)!

Freeman also had talks with Pete Golding per Loy. He was the "second mystery candidate."

This is what I love about Freeman. He doesn't assume anything, with coaches or recruits. If he wants someone, he makes them say no. He doesn't just assume Bama coaches, or 5 star recruits, are uninterested, like the last guy did.

Well that’s positive. Too many good quotes to summarize it’d give it a click.
Didn't specify, but there are things about the college game he misses.

Bengals players say his enthusiasm is infectious, great personality, yet demanding. Always sharing tidbits to help improve a players game.

Golding just got arrested for a DUI a week ago.

It looks like it’s almost an open site/project for NW journalism students so he probably is a closet ND fan and was hoping for some traction. Pretty well done by him, to our benefit.

The fact that Golden is somewhat credited for a development of a young D core is a very good sign for us.

55, Logan Wilson, had an incredible game. He was everywhere. Second year with the Bengals. 3rd round pick out of Wyoming?

When you look at their game plan against KC and LA, with what they were able to do, if he brings some of that scheme and principles to Notre Dame as a DC we're going to be just fine. Obviously tweaked and simplified for the college game, but man they were stout against two very good offenses.

Shut down the best running back in the nfl the week prior to KC too.
