It was posted earlier in this thread.

The posted article said that Fickell and Freeman were the two frontrunners.

It went on to say that IF it wasn’t Freeman, Freeman would become the frontrunner for Duke or Cinci if it were to open up

Can you help me understand what this means? I don't speak Jet airplane.

I don’t know at all what it means, and it could mean absolutely nothing, but right in the heart of coaching carousel it seems less than coincidental that a plane flies to South Bend with just enough time to pick someone up and and takes them to Columbus, and then later that day flies into East Lansing with the similar timeframe returning back to Columbus. Just really interesting to me, that’s all

See now this is really really interesting. Three major college football towns in the same day? In a span of ten hours? And heading back to Columbus a half hour after arrival? Anyone know someone who works at WheelsUp? Haha jk...unless?

Probably just a bowl site rep

Luke Fickell to MSU, Mel Tucker to ND, Freeman to Cincy.

If we don't get MF after all this and get some Fickel doofus.

I'll be a touch upset. That should scare the alum and boosters who want Freeman.

I am very important and went to a good state school and wore ND gear the whole time.

They listen to me.

Maybe, but they were only on the ground in South Bend for 30 minutes before heading to Columbus, and then the flight planned for Lansing later only has a similar 30 minutes on the ground before returning to Columbus. Hardly enough time to conduct any bowl business. Just my observation

Misunderstanding on my end. My bad. I thought it was saying that Freeman wasn’t a possibility.

I see people are worried Fickell would leave here to jump to OSU. Why aren’t you just as concerned that Freeman would do the same? Point is, any coach that has success here will be a threat to be poached, especially by their alma maters.

Just finished watching it myself.... a fucking Heisman Trophy winner can't get free tickets/booth to a game????? I am now starting to think this is not all or on BK.... I think it is going WAY deeper into the administration.... I guess this is what happens when you have Priests running the show.... and I'm Catholic and don't trust the 'Church'.....

We need different priests running the show. We need priests like from the exorcist. Priests who drink Chivas Regal scotch, smoke cigarettes, box to stay in shape and take on the devil face to face.

FWIW a family member of mine is a monogram club member and all of his basketball buddies (Digger era) are hearing that it’s Freeman. Some pretty plugged in former ND players in that group.

Regardless, I’ve never seen an outpouring of support for one potential coach like this before. I have a feeling that some players know it’s likely him and then leaked it to recruits and alumni.

That is a concern, but Freeman said in an interview over the summer, paraphrasing, that if he wasn't an osu legacy, that in his short time at ND that he so fell in love with it that he wished he would have played here.

Mike singer said earlier today that freeman bleeds blue and gold now. He is all in on ND. He is a ND man and I believe he is loyal to his word unlike some people we know… well use to know

It was a good show, they compared BK to Huston Nutt at Ole Miss... Tom said he sees him having a good year 1 and year 2 only to struggle to win an sec game after that. Guess BK really was a lazy recruiter.

I always thought guys like Alford and Freeman or Heistand were our main recruitment drivers.

There's a reason when he jumped he went after Alford again and wants to bring Freeman along and by most accounts the kids love Tommy.

All signs point to Swarbrick having spent today working nonstop on deals with Freeman and assistant coaches who are being retained. My only worry is that the information that is leaking out is a smokescreen or circular game of telephone, because that is VERY common in coaching searches.

Freeman himself has a good relationship with many people on the beat and I think the radio silence on his end is telling. I don’t think you’d see that if he wasn’t involved in some sort of discussion/negotiation.

Correct. Since Rees has been eliminated as a candidate, the job is Freeman's. Like you pointed out, an external hire would bring his own staff/coaches.

Hold a tick, when was Rees eliminated? Don't get me wrong, I'm on the Freeman wagon for HC, just genuinely curious. I hope we do manage to retain him as OC either way. The players love both guys per the Assaf Twitter Space last night, and if LSU is willing to give him 400k more it speaks volumes what they think he'll do with more talent.

I saw this from Tranquill earlier tonight and it solidified my choice for Freeman to get the job:

I think the biggest question we all need to be asking ourselves is, which one of these candidates is most likely to let us wear green?

I think the bigger question is what the fall out will be if freeman ism the HC. Everyone is backing him and want him. If he isn’t the choice how much disappointment will there be.

I also wonder if it’s not freeman and everyone is pissed about it will ppl be open minded as much if it’s fickel or another coach. For me I would be mad and disappointed again but I’d give him the chance to change my mind

Freeman is gonna be such an easy guy to root for as HC. Such a high character person from all accounts. Excited to get this confirmed - maybe tomorrow?

Right? That floored me. He thought enough to reach out 8 years after recruiting him, Drue was already long gone by that point. Didn't have anything to gain, just saw his face on the wall and reached out. Pretty cool, that's extra effort and care.
