I thought it would be interesting to start a thread on the ND family connection. I will update this OP with all of the great info I know this group will supply.

With Amon-Ra St. Brown CB'd to ND I started thinking about all the father/son, brother, twin, and other family connections at ND as well as celebrity connections.

Brothers:
  • Laydens (Four Horseman Elmer 1922-24, Mike 1935)
  • Millers (Harry 1909, Four Horseman Don 1924, Harry's son Creighton 1943)
  • Zloch (Bill, Chuck)
  • Browners (Ross, Willard, Jim)
  • Townsends (Mike, Willie)
  • Huffman (Dave,Tim)
  • Brooks (Tony, Reggie)
  • Golics (Bob, Mike)
  • DiNardo (Larry, Gerry)
  • Alloco (Frank, Rich)
  • McCarthys (Kyle, Daniel)
  • Atkinsons (George, Josh)
  • Golics (Mike, Jake)
  • Salvis (Chris. Will)
  • Martins (Zach, Nick)
  • Jones (Jarron, Jamir)
  • Ademilola (Jayson, Justin)
  • St. Browns (hopefully - Equinemeous, Amon-Ra).

TWINS
  • Atkinsons (George, Josh)
  • Ademillola (Jayson, Justin)

Probably won't happen:
  • Cages (Daniel, Jerron?).

Fathers and Sons
  • Millers (Harry 1909/Creighton 1943)
  • Golics (Mike/Mike, Jake)
  • Grunyard (Tim/ Colin)
  • Hanratty (Pat/ Conor)

Uncles
  • Gunner Kiel (Blair Kiel)

CELEBRITY FATHERS/RELATIVES
  • NFL/ESPN - Mike Golic (Mike, Jake)
  • NBA - David Robinson (Corey)
  • MUSIC - Jon Bon Jovi (Jesse)
  • MLB - Torii Hunter (Torii Hunter Jr.)
  • NFL - Chris Collinsworth (Austin)
  • NFL - Phillip Daniels (Davaris)
  • NFL - Darrin Woodson (Cole Luke) - Uncle

In order to appear in the All-Time Notre Dame Roster of Players one has to play a minimum of one play in a regular season game.

Gunner Kiel does not appear in the ND Roster of Players.

I'd sooner list Dave Duerson '79, '80, '81, '82 & Tregg Duerson '05.

Tregg also is NOT on the ND All-Time Roster because he left school after his father's tragic mental health issues and death. Tregg didn't play for ND but it wasn't because he transferred because he couldn't beat anyone out.

His father, a Two Time All-American, ND Captain,ND MVP '82, Member ND Board of Trustees, '01-'05, winner of the Edward "Moose" Krause Distinguished Service Award in 1990 by the Notre Dame Monogram Club, of which he was a past president, and NFL All-Pro died from a gunshot wound to the chest as a result of head injuries sustained on the gridiron.

Dave Duerson left a bequest that his brain be sent to the Boston University School of Medicine for research on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Neurologists at Boston University confirmed that Duerson had CTE as a result of the concussions he suffered during his playing career.

The Leahy's Eight Decades of Excellence Spanning ND Football As Players From Rockne To Holtz.

Frank Leahy
A tackle on Knute Rockne's last three Notre Dame teams, Leahy graduated from Notre Dame in 1931. He went to Georgetown as line coach in 1931 and went to Michigan State the following year to take a similar position. Leahy took over as line coach at Fordham in 1933 and stayed until 1938 under Jim Crowley, coaching the famed Seven Blocks of Granite from 1935-37 when the Rams lost only two combined games. In 1939, he went to Boston College as head coach for two years, guiding the Eagles to a 20-2 record and a 1941 Sugar Bowl victory. Leahy came to Notre Dame as head coach the next season. He entered the Navy in 1944 and was discharged as a lieutenant. He returned to Notre Dame for the 1946 season and stayed until resigning for health reasons in 1954. While at Notre Dame, Leahy had six undefeated seasons, five national championship teams and an unbeaten string of 39 games in the late 1940s. He was selected to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 1970. He also had an undefeated season as Head Coach of Boston College before coming to ND. Career Winning Percentage .864.
