ND is opens this week -10 at home vs. Texas (9.5 is some places). This is higher than it was at the start of the summer, when it opened around -7.5.

Here is an update for all the Notre Dame GOTY as reported by sportsbook.ag - there is some contrast here to what we saw published via the Golden Nugget in June. Anyone know what is going on with the Georgia Tech line?

Notre Dame -11 at Virginia (opened at -9)
Georgia Tech +9 at Notre Dame (opened at +2)
Notre Dame +2.5 at Clemson (opened at +3.5)
USC +1 at Notre Dame (opened at pick)
Notre Dame -7 at Pittsburgh (opened at -3)
Notre Dame +4 at Stanford (same)

So what's going on at Georgia Tech? from 2 to 9???? I don't think many ND fans think we're a better favorite for GT than @Pitt. But hey, they good news is that every line has trended in ND's direction or stayed the same - meaning the money is coming in on ND.

Betting lines aren't set on team issues alone. The money was clearly being hung on ND to win so a shift in the line was to even out the betting.

The Georgia Tech hype in the ND community is built on an irrational fear of the triple option. Everyone freaks out about Navy and GT is described as "Navy with athletes." They're not that good.

Why is fear of the triple option irrational? We suck at defending it.

But we shouldn't. Our quarterback was a turnover machine last year but that doesn't mean this year's will be.

It's not just the triple option, but Paul Johnson's triple option that we suck at defending. Navy had been a perennial doormat for decades until he took over the Middies. Niumatololo didn't miss a beat when Johnson left, and now we expect a nail biter and pray for no knee injuries every year. Against Navy.

So yes, the prospect of facing Paul Johnson's triple option being run by superior athletes is terrifying.

Navy put up 34 plus points on us 3 out of the last 5 years... Now we gotta play that offense with legit Div I athletes?!?!? This team has been picked by many to win their division... I am scared more for this game than any other on the schedule
