Not true at all. OSU dropped all the way to #22 after they lost to VT.

This is true in the case of OSU, but people forget conference championship games are also another opportunity to lose. Say for instance a 1 loss Pac-12 team gets beat by a 2 loss team in the conference championship game then that game actually helps us.

Michigan was terrible, they were 5-7 and unranked. Wisconsin was ranked #13 and had 2 losses going into that game with OSU, that should be very similar to Stanford.

The whole year everyone was ripping on the Big10, i really don't think that was some sort of advantage.

Look, nobody is (or last year, was) less impressed with the Big Ten than me; I'm just saying that the pollsters evidentally thought enough of Ohio State's closeout that they picked them over two 11-1 teams.

Ohio State got the benefit of beating an archrival (who you and I know was lousy, but it's a win that's usually rated higher than it should be because it's a rivalry) and the benefit of crushing Wisconsin in a high profile conference title game (and Wisconsin, imo, is always overrated by pollsters).

And, yes, you gotta win the conference title game for it to help you; but ND will be standing still, while four teams are winning their title games. For that not to hurt ND, the winning teams need to be three of four slots below the Irish; if those teams are either ahead already or within a couple spots, they stay ahead of ND or pass ND, respectively.

But, hey, I hope you guys are right.

You're completely discounting attrition. So many teams have head to head matchups ahead of us that will move up regardless of who our wins are against. The only one loss teams ahead of us are Alabama and Ole Miss who both play multiple top 15 teams. All we need to do is stay ahead of all the other 1 loss teams.

Okay. I hope you are right. I hope we have the chance to see who's right, not because I want to be right (I don't), but because I'd love 11-1.

Have you seen our secondary? Or how about our rush offense against the only team we've played? We're hardly world beaters ourselves at this point, and Washington's DBS seem a lot better than ours based on tonight's game.

In my unprofessional opinion, UVA was the only game in which our secondary looked really bad. It looked bad at times against UMass and Clemson, but nothing awful. Regarding our run game, Clemson was completely stacking the box. USC won't be able to do that because there won't be a freaking hurricane during the game and Kizer has demonstrated that he can throw the ball pretty well.

Regardless, everyone (not just you) would be hyping USC regardless of how this game went:
1. They lose -- "Classic look ahead, Sark will coach them up, they will be fired up to prove themselves."
2. The blow out shitty Washington -- "OMG look how good they are. JuJu is going to tear us up... wow they look like world beaters."

This is the USC team that is going to score one hundred against us (according to the chicken littles in the Clemson thread)? I don't get where the idea comes from that USC is something to worry about. Because they were real good a decade ago?

By the time we played SC last year we were in free fall and playing with a depleted roster. And sometimes you get your ass kicked. Don't see what that really has to do with this year. USC looks like a team you can punch in the mouth to me.

Pretty sure we would get flagged for that

Nobody took 6:1 Washington straight up? You wussies!

If we don't put up 500 yards of offense on these guys there is something wrong.
