I haven't had any problem with Fowler or Herbie tonight.
I usually think they're the best pair to call a game on any network, but I think they have progressively gotten more and more into their own dialogue and how they are "good," and there are now times where they aren't even concerned about the game action.
A good example was earlier tonight, with Clemson up 10-0, OSU came up with a huge 3rd-and-1 stop to get themselves the ball back. It was a big moment early in a game where OSU needed a stop to try and stop the bleeding, but you wouldn't have known it listening to them. They literally didn't mention the big short-yardage stop; they kept jabbering about whatever they had been talking about during the whole drive, and kept jabbering even through the punt.
OSU gets a big stop in a playoff game where they need every little bit to get in the game, and it literally didn't get mentioned.
The disclaimer, of course, is that they were jabbering about some interesting back story concerning a player's extra motivation for the game, which is an awesome thing to infuse in calling the game. The problem is that there is no balance sometimes because of how they've evolved to where it's almost like they're trying too hard, and the actual play-by-play suffers.
