I remember 99, 11 and 14 but the 2004 UConn National Championship absolutely escapes me. I was 26 years young and probably sobering out because I can't recall anything about that team or tournament that year.

Okafor, Gordon and Villanueva were on that team. Totally unmemorable. They beat Duke and Georgia Tech in the Final Four.

I remember them because that was Bama's first trip to the Elite 8. Okafor was just a beast and we had no answer for him (neither did anyone else). They were really good top to bottom... probably as strong as this year's team.

I can't stomach "Purdon't" and those heathens in W. Lafayette raising a NC over Notre Dame. Go Huskies.
My chick and every one of her family members who didn’t get into ND, graduated from IU. The level of hate they have for Pee U is unprecedented.

I on the other hand transferred in 4 summer sprint classes from Purdue so I’m roughly 10% Boiler so F them and UConn.

Is it me or has this been a pretty bad March Madness tourney? A lot of blowouts and uneventful games. Maybe tonight will be a buzzer beater, but this year has really lacked the drama. Plus, it doesn't help I do not give two shits about the teams playing tonight.

Tyson Chicken money in play here. Maybe Jerry Jones chipping in some as well.
We know Wal-Mart likely is not. Stephens Inc has cut back ever since UofA moved all home games to F’ville w/ exception of one cupcake. They’’ve invested in UALR basketball instead.

Well, we got what looked to be the best two teams all season playing for all the marbles. If that’s the end result, I’ll take it.

The 99 team that beat Duke in the final is one of my favorite squads ever. Absolutely great game, too.

I don't know if Dan Hurley needs to move at the moment but money ultimately talks.

I agree with Dodger regarding tonight's final, but to your point I felt that there has been a lack of upsets and a lack of last minute finishes. The first two rounds saw a lot of high scoring games, too, which I don't mind but is pretty unusual.

UK might very well reach out to Oats, but he has an $18 million buyout.

No doubt. Rip hamilton was the household name with Khalid right behind him but Ricky Moore and Freeman were nails. Moore was an incredible on the ball defender.

Can’t remember when, but it seems its been a while since two #1 seeds played in the title game.

Rooting for Painter to get a well deserved ring.

Clingan is essentially the only big this year Edey played around his size. He’s also a great defender and more athletic than Edey. Clingan is a projected lottery pick and Edey is projected 2nd round bc of this athleticism difference (for now).

Clingan seems intimidated. Don't know how a 7 foot 2 guy can let that happen. He seems like a waste of space so far.
I've heard a few times that guys don't realize how big (not just tall) he really is until they get on the court with him.

Hats off to UConn. Edey handled Clingan, but their guards were the game. Too big and athletic for Purdue's guards on both ends. I thought Purdue turned down a few 3's, but UConn's guards shutoff the 3 which was the difference IMO.

Donovan has been on record that he has no interest in going back to the college game, but money does talk. Calipari was butting heads with the AD, because he felt the AD was getting too involved. Sounds like Calipari already had a foot out the door, as someone on the radio reported yesterday that Calipari made inquiries about the Ohio State game when Holtmann was canned.

UConn played pretty tenacious D and hit their open shots. UConn is exceptionally disciplined and I was pretty amazed at how patient they were in getting the open player the ball for a shot (and there always seemed to be someone open). I thought Purdue played pretty well on D but their offense just wasn’t clicking (much of this was how well UConn defended). Purdue had some open shots but their shooting was well below par. UConn was the better overall team with more athleticism and discipline.

My wife is an IU grad and certainly has a pep in her step this morning.

A few of fun facts:
  1. UConn had to replace 5 of their top 8 off a National Title team and somehow got better. The Florida team of 06 and 07 along with the Duke team in 91 and 92 returned nearly their entire squads.
  2. UConn played 40 games this year - 29 of which they won by 10 points or more.
  3. The Big East, the best conference in basketball, won both the NIT and NCAA championships.
  4. UConn now has 6 titles in 25 years with 3 different coaches.

Kind of odd for them to still yell "Banners" when they are the 4th or 5th best team in the state.

She has no illusions about the state of the IU basketball team and where they fall in the B10 pecking order. The next best thing for her is rooting for Purdue to lose.

Clingan did exactly what he needed to do so the rest of the UCONN players could play outstanding defense. Clingan forced Edey to work fairly hard for all the points he got. While Clingan was in the game, Edey only had a couple of opportunities to score quickly and easily. Clingan forced Edey to use energy and clock. When Clingan was not in the game, Edey scored quickly with little to no effort. UCONN had to either just give up the points (while they were up big with clock running out) or try and double Edey which is not what UCONN wanted to do. Edey got his points, but the Purdue offense was shut down other than that because Clingan didn't require double team help.

Hurley has UCONN in a great place.
