Was out of town over the weekend and missed most of everything. I went to some some NC State boards and a good 1/3 or more were/are complaining about officiating; especially in the case of the pick 6 and the interference where our receiver seemingly pushed off first.

I thought I heard that NC State doesn't usually have may penalties, but had a ton against us. What did you guys think of the officiating?

FYI...I loved one guys comment about thought they did well with their 3 star talent against our 5 star talent. How many 5 stars do we have currently?

Are any of us famous?

EDIT: Lol @ these guys. "Notre Dame fans have a sense of entitlement when they haven't been relevant in awhile." Has NC State ever been relevant in ever?

they sounded like beavis and butthead

You always hear this shit... where does this even come from? I honest to goodness think it's just some lame sour grapes hold over from the 1970s that modern fan bases just instinctively regurgitate when playing ND.

Wait, NC State has a board?

To your last question, according to Koon we have 0 5 stars. And we'll never get one either.

Listening to that podcast was pretty bad. Killed it after 6-7 min. Amazing how those guys could think how they did (or do). NCS has almost always been a doormat team from my memory. I just dont get where after going 7-6 in 2016 playing teams like eastern carolina and old dominion that all of a sudden they were the big team on the mountain? Is there not supposed to be a sense of pride/expectation that your program has arrived after years of accomplishment?

IDK if doormat is fair, they've had some good teams here and there and are usually an average-ish program... 'doormat' to me implies well below average to terrible... My Jayhawks have recently been a doormat. NCSt has rarely if ever been flat out terrible.

Show them the play where the NCSt DB was Weinstein-ing our receiver (I think it was Boykins) on the long pass and tell them to fuck off. That's what I think.

Rewatching this game. Man, NCSU talks a lot of ish. Highly unlikeable team. Glad ND whooped their arse.

Pretty sure the poor calls were back to back.

ESB got the really bad interference call for him and it was followed up by the crazy holding call against Boykin that wasn't called. We gained 5 yds in the transaction, because interference is 15yds and Holding is 10yds.

seemed like the refs were pretty active in the first half, less so second half. With regard to the holds/interference, our receivers were pancaking their DB's on running plays. Claypool has been listening in on the OL drills. In the second half they were playing at arms length which led to a couple of holds/interference.

I highly recommend listening to the first ~15 minutes of their pregame podcast if you enjoy schadenfreude.

They "highlight" some ND message board posts where ND fans predicted a win based on being better than NC State, and lambasted those posts... and those posts end up coming absolutely 100% true haha.

They also clearly invent a bunch of bullshit about how awful the collective ND fans were at the game last year... ND fans are pretty well lauded all over the country for being good sports when they attend away games.

I can't wait for their next podcast. They will likely ignore all of the shit they were wrong about, and will instead echo Doeren in blaming the refs. They will also probably talk about how it was more about NC State getting exposed, and less about ND being good.

I call BS on this claim. I was at the NC State game last year. Trust me, given the weather we sat through, the hurricane wasn't going to let anyone be awful to anybody.

Me neither, I want no part of Bama whatsoever. Game would be over by first quarter.

They are probably what goes underneath the doormat. I cheer for them every chance I get though.

Just re-watched the game. Most impressive play on Defense was the 4th down and NCSt was moving 4-5 players around and around and not one defensive player on the Irish moved from their initial spot. None of them looked confused or despondent. Just waited for the snap and took over on downs.

Much different defense this year. Very awesome to see.

Also, if you watch the 'Run' by Adams, as Mustipher and Nelson are running down the field behind Adams, they are blocking/running into each other having fun!!

They've already blocked everyone else. Might well start blocking each other.

Yeah I watch as many games as I can and they've never, even in other lean years, been close to this bad... oh well, it's not like I'm not used to rooting for horrible football teams. Kansas still has my biggest football win of my adult life with that Orange Bowl win over VT... ND and the Browns have not topped that since at least grade school...

NCSU put Samuels in motion quite a bit and ND did a very good job of staying assignment sound and making plays.

Re-watched the game right before the Wake game, obviously

Coach Longs run game is insane. He needs credit for this job, as well as others. Different looks, different sets, and we run out of all of them. We keep defenses of balance just by running the ball. It’s really good work.

I realize this is late, but after Deoren’s comments pre-Clemson, I wanted to see validation.

We shut them down, regardless of Hines playing. Swing passes, we stopped. We stuffed the middle the entire second half. Bounce it outside and we were tackling them. Short passes we jumped.

Again, late..... I know, but wanted to see it again.
