really? I dont think so. I want to know what his injury really was. How can you let anybody keep you out of this game

I dunno man seems like it would be awfully hard to throw a ball with no feeling in your arm no matter how bad you wanted to. Ever get out of bed in the middle of the night unaware your leg is completely asleep & fall flat on your face? Numb can make the most remedial tasks utterly impossible.

Dont get me wrong I'm not at all a fan of this kid was just making a comparative observation.

Texas would have won this going away with McCoy. But I have to ask what in the hell was Brown thinking at the end of the first half. Run out the clock and regroup for God's sake.

Does anyone else have a terrible hangover? How was the game? I had other priorities last night...

yea maybe you and bambi are right. I thought they were just going to shoot him up in the locker room and he was gonna keep playing. I mean National Championship.

Playing with a shoulder injury could have literally cost him an NFL career.

This is where I argue Colts lack of a real NFL career. yea he will get drafted. in the first round? no. in the second? no. in the third? i dont think so. This was probally the pinnacle of his football career and he watched it. I guess I just argued against myself because by that logic he must have been really hurt.

Side note, in the NFL that hit is going to happen too. Probally harder.

This is general observation and I'm sure I'll regret it but there are some mean people on this site.

Let's see there were the Team Physicians, Team Trainers, Team Coaches, and his father present and involved in making the NO GO decision.

It wasn't his call.

More than that, it shouldn't be.

The team physicians and athletic trainers (I'm married to one) are there to get players back on the field whenever possible. If the player can't play, they know. The player doesn't have any clue.

It's unfortunate, but this was best for Colt.

very true. i can't imagine him coming to anything in the NFL. hes as thin as a wire and seems so fragile and easy to injure. This was his definiing moment. He didnt get the Heisman or nuthin and now..its your game you couldve won it...but you don't cause you want the money of the NFL?! sad man cause you probably won't get that money.

ps I still think they wouldve lost even with Colt.

it is?! wtf? how jacked up is that?! and its not in Hawaii so whats the point of it? its never interesting cause Best Defense vs Best Offense...is always boring.
to make it interesting they should have switched it from Hawaii to Anchorage :-D :) :) lol

“There’s no pain on my body,” Colt said later. “If I was a free safety, I’d go out there and make a tackle. I [just] have no strength to throw a football.”

Maybe he should have :p

I guess if he couldnt throw it 7 yards he couldnt play. I dont know what happend in there or how serious the injury was or who made the call. Something just seems off to me. Ive played sports for a long time now and going into my senior year and last season this spring, if im in Colts position I just cant see myself not playing in that game. But again, I dont know what happend. Sorry Colt

Trainer: McCoy wanted to return, but injury too severe - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

Jan. 9, 2010

Trainer Kenny Boyd said in a statement released by the school on Saturday that McCoy "wanted to go back in the game ... [but] we couldn't clear him to do that."
McCoy was hurt on Texas' fifth play on offense and the NCAA career leader in victories (45) as a starting quarterback didn't take another snap in his final game. Freshman Garrett Gilbert played the rest of the game.
"Colt sustained a nerve injury involving his right shoulder that prevented him from returning to the game. The injury caused numbness and weakness in his arm that prevented him from throwing with the strength or accuracy he needed," Boyd said. "He wanted to go back into the game but with the weakness he was having in the shoulder, we couldn't clear him to do that.
"The weakness in his shoulder also put him at risk of greater injury. From the time of the injury, we were continually treating and re-evaluating him, but he wasn't able to regain the strength he needed to get back on the field."

That's the key. As I have said, athletic trainers want the athlete to play. He would have been at greater risk AND would have been a detriment to his team.

As Bob Davie said (don't like to cite him, but he was right about this), the coach should never try to overrule the athletic trainer. They get the explanation, accept the verdict, and try to win with whoever is on the field.
