Much of today seemed to result from turnovers, good defense, and solid play by the offensive line. I’ll give Riley credit for having another solid game. I think he’s much better at giving the pocket and routes to develop. His passing is still less accurate than I’d want from an elite quarterback, but he isn’t one. I’ll even give credit to our punter whom seemed to have found a bit more today.

I am most pleased that the game seemed to be fairly injury free.

What I didn’t like….. Gray, how can a defensive back of your caliber look so bad against undersized and slower talent. Linebackers need to improve their on field vision. Uninspired performance coming out of halftime. Can’t make that a habit.

Riley continues to improve
Love is great
Defense is phenomenal

Haven’t seen that many balls fumbled since whatever I was watching on Pornhub last night.

Not sure how much more I can drink.
Fact check false your in Indiana and they blocked us. Unless you got megaballs and let those fuckers have front and back of your drivers license

Defensive MVP was Navy’s offense…LOL. Seriously though, even if the fumbles weren’t forced how many times has it bounced the other way back into the hands of the offense in previous games?

When game was still competitive it looked like Horvath was targeting Christian Gray & having success.

Hopefully, Mukam isn’t seriously injured. Hated seeing another defender limp off the field. Looked like Rubio was limping out of the pile but he remained in the game.

When I see RL scramble & then break contain on a 3rd & long, I‘m glad ND doesn’t have to defend that. Those are the type of QBs that used to drive ND defenses crazy pre-Golden. Nice to have that advantage on the Irish side for once.

Kedren young runs like he doesnt require an OL blocking for him.

Angeli still lacks pocket awareness when it comes to pass rush.
Kedren runs like he wants to hurt the other team, gaining yards in the process.
We have been one of the worst teams in CFB lately in the strange stat of "other teams fumbles not recovered." Nice to see that flipped. The one that Jr got wasn't a gimme, he really closed on it quickly.

That offensive system for Navy is nuts. Just watching those mass motions was confusing.

Besides that end this series:

There is no benefit to the program, we have paid back our debt a hundred fold. The way navy plays is just asking to get hurt and we have to change everything around just to face them. Not worth it, traditionalists can say what they want but this is a pointless series.
Maybe I'm mistaken. But it didn't see Navy use cut blocks. Where someone can get injured.

It’s sad to think how good this team could have been with all of the players lost for the season.
Exactly where my mind went as well. At this point, may not change the regular season record, but may be the difference if we make the playoffs.

One thing I learned that made me spit coffee was that Huston Griffiths is in the record books for most games played for the Irish. I was smacked in the gob by that fact.

Evans is getting back to his best and Faison looks sharp again.
It’s is a much better group of recievers with those two.
TE's need to get their hands right....... I love their pass/run protection and downfield blocking... but this year has been hell on catching. Can't blame RL on those. Gonna need those TE 'hands' in the stretch and hopefully playoff

1. OL not being a disaster, regardless of the defense they’re playing against, is amazing considering the injuries, shuffling, and general lack of experience.

2. Zero takeaways about the defense from the game. Not only is the Navy offense weird, but their turnovers ruined any quality chess match that might have occurred.

3. Greathouse, please be faster in the open field

4. Jeter, please get that muscle rested fully and healed up over the bye

I think it’s fair to say that Notre Dame defense mentally f***ed Navy before the game started and Notre Dame hitting/scheme/size contributed to Navy crapping the bed

Sneed had himself a game.
He was a lot more disciplined in his reads today than he usually is. He's immensely talented, but often found himself going too fast and out of position. Today was not one of those days, and it paid off on the stat sheet for sure.

Leonard played excellent all around. Would have looked better without a couple of drops and penalties that called back a few nice throws. Wasn’t impressed with the few series Angeli played. I will say Kedron Young looks like someone we should be getting some Carries to. I think he runs harder and lower and with more violence between the tackles than anyone on our team. Thought the D was a little sloppy at times. Even though most of those turnovers were not forced I think the stress of playing against our size and speed got them to just not play relaxed and loose. They were tight and it showed. Their QB is very good at their game. Thumb was an issue for sure. Would have liked to see us get longer fields as I think we could have driven the length of the field all day. Confidence booster for the team and Leonard.

Leonard -

13/21 Passing (should have been 14/21 Eli SMH)
178 Yards
2 TDs / 0 INTs

QB rating - 120.7

Keep playing like this, and on the heels of the D... this could be a special year for the Irish
You can add a perfect strike in Faisons hands dropped as well. Also has two nice pass plays called back for penalties. Riley looked as good as any QB can today.

If I am brass at Notre Dame I make it fuckin clear to the ACC that if their officials don't learn to call balls balls and strikes strikes, not only will they never see our football team in the conference, we will divest our brand completely and leave them to PAC whatever status.. This shit is beyond old. Also MFMF needs to light into an official one of these times, I mean take it right up to the line.

With a 30 point lead I call my first time out just to spend 30 seconds chewing out a ref for the targeting call on King.

When’s the last time the offense had this kind of in-season improvement? Impressive job by the players and coaches. Very proud of them.

The defense kind of gets forgotten because they’re so consistently good. Obviously an elite group of guys in that side of the ball

It’s almost as though we began the season with a very inexperienced offensive line and a new QB who had missed spring practice and now they have played eight games. 🙂

But seriously yes the evolution of this offense has been fun to watch. Good on them.

Each week is a playoff game and so far, the coaches and players have gotten it done. Keep it up!
