lol I'm not trying to start a debate. Stevie's version is beautiful. Just I love Hendrix so much that when I heard the intro to Stevie's instrumental I just kept expecting to hear Jimi's voice. lol

for me in this case, there is no debate. Hendrix wins in a landslide(cant beat the original). However, SRV's version is beautiful. SRV is the only guy I can think of, that would play a hendrix tune, and play it in a hendrix-style, and no one ever talked **** about it. Eric Clapton can play hendrix tunes and no one says anything, but Clapton plays those tunes with his owns style applied to them. SRV was a special special talent, personnally I did not appreciate him until 10years after he was dead. Sometimes being young works against you

Don't get me wrong, Hendrix and SRV are #1 and #2 respectively on the my all-time best guitarists list. But stripped of the lyrics and given SRV's more bluesy tempo... Little Wing goes from good to great, imho. It's the only instance I can think of where someone managed to improve on Hendrix's original.

I play a bit myself, so I listen to these guys mainly for the guitar virtuosity. For those less focused on that aspect, I can definitely see how the original might be more appealing.
