Moving to South Bend area help.

Moving to the area in about 3 months. The job I’m taking is remote. I’ll be a government contracted employee basically serving the northern part of Indiana. My territory will be as south as maybe Logansport, up just north of Kalamazoo, (fuck) Michigan. And East/West as Indiana goes.

South Bend is the center and considered my “home base” which means nothing but it’s in the middle. The suggestion is to live 30 miles within the city center of South Bend. We have been looking at Granger/Mishawaka pretty hard but curious if there is a place I’m overlooking.

I am originally from Elkhart (Go Blazers) but I’m not wanting to land there. I’d rather be close to 80/90 toll road/US20/SR31 but as long I’m close to one it doesn’t matter.

Been awhile but Granger/Mishawaka was the best options last time I knew

Is there a bad area of Granger? Or a less desirable area. Same question with Mishawaka.

Granger, not really. A lot of HOAs. East side of Granger is considered "older" but no real down areas. Best area for Mishawaka is south of town, which puts you near the 31 bypass.

Do you have kids? PHM and Mishawaka are great school districts, but if you prefer something smaller, Jimtown is pretty solid. Northwood (Wakarusa/Nappanee) is one of the best in the area, but a little further out. New Prairie (New Carlisle area) is another good one to the west. Obviously you know the area decently.

West to southwest side. Anything north liberty walkerton area quiet better quality of life can get you to main enough highways quick enough. You think your gonna want to use the toll road more than you will as besides gary its mostly like 10-15 miles more north then cities you are going to want to go to for work

This is fine because my kids will either continue to be home-schooled or go to Elkhart Christian Academy or some other Christian-ish private school. Just nice to have that option. It's pretty much right off the Toll Road. Older home but the size and price I could not really pass up.

I know Indiana is a choice state, can transfer. Does PHM allow "transfers" from other districts?

Evidently on a "limited basis". Probably means unless your kid is good at sports, you ain't getting in. LOL

Amazingly the sub-division we are moving into is off county line road. 3 minutes from Horizon Elementary and Discovery Middle. Maybe I just need to donate some things to the sports program. Send them my High School sports resume perhaps. lol

Elkhart Christian is a good choice for a Christian school. There is Trinity Lutheran out that way but they only go to 8th grade. My kids are currently at Granger Christian, but will eventually end up at Penn.

Not only state law but I am an employee now too. I have not been an employee of anything for a very long time.
