I thought it'd be cool to have a thread to discuss rumors, completed deals etc.

The Phillies are getting Hunter Pence which is a real nice move for them

From what I have heard down here, the Rangers want him bad. At least most of their local beat writers think so.

And not giving up Brown or Worley (unless Worley gets moved for Bell or Adams which i doubt)

Ummmm .... OK. Does this mean that the Phillies are scurrying about at night, leaving the safety of their wall-space lairs to leave a trail of little "gifties" between holes gnawed in the Cheerios and Special K boxes?

Which, of course, brings to mind Riddickulous and his many Jinkses ...

At what a price though... Had to give up their two top pitching prospects in Drew Pomeranz and Alex White who are studs and big time catching/1st base prospect, Matt McBride. Kid has a great bat.

That said, Jimenez is only 27 and is going to look great playing for this club.

The Ubaldo trade is not offical yet they are just supposedly rumors but I have also heard they are close to being a done deal. So who knows what is going on. Personally as an Indians fan I'd love to see Ubaldo in a tribe uniform.

Coming from a Cleveland radio host that I saw on twitter, "Straight from Alex White: Joe Gardner, Matt McBride, Alex White, Drew Pomeranz for Ubaldo Jimenez" take it for what it's worth.

It's T.J. Zuppe from ESPN 850 Cleveland. And Alex White was starting for the Indians when they were hot early on until he hurt a tendon in I believe his pointer finger and has been on the DL since and is now making starts down at Akron.

as you could tell from earlier in this thread, i wanted ubaldo jimenez.

i think i've now realized it wasn't worth it. we have up our two top pitching prospects, who were both lightyears above anyone else in our farm system as far as a ceiling goes.

but i do like that the indians have developed a win-now mentality with all of these deadline moves.

Ubaldo was pulled in the first inning threw 45 pitches I think it was 21 for strikes.
Looking like the Red Sox are getting Harden still in the hunt for Bedard from what I can find.

I hope the Yanks pickup Heath Bell

RH reliever, right? Who do you trade for him?

I haven't followed the tradetalks but am under the assumption that Nova is the prime bait in any trade. He won his 9th game tonight with a 4.01 ERA. He's only 24 and his more development to do but I'd take him over Burnett, Garcia, and until he shows he's mended and up to speed, Hughes.

Do the Yankees need Bell that desperately?

d.lee got traded to the pirates for a minor leaguer, i hope he does well, and they make the playoffs as long as the cardinals don't.

Definitely pulling for the Bucs. Would be a great story. Lee will help them.

The Indians got hosed for Jimenez, who had one great half season (it was truly great) and has seen his velocity drop significantly. The Red Sox were rumored to be in it, but the Rockies were asking for our top pitching and position player prospects, plus another prospect. Jimanez is not worth that kind of package. That is a Felix Hernandez package.

A little strange to see Lars Anderson go for an always-injured guy like Harden. Anderson was the Sox's number one prospect at one time, but has stalled out and was blocked from the big leagues by Adrian Gonzalez. I guess it is ironic on some level, since Harden was once maybe the no. 1 prospect in all of baseball, and is now the return piece in a deal that dumps a former prospect. I do think Harden can help the Sox a little, but I look at anything beyond a handful of starts as a bonus.

Meh I'm indifferent about them getting bell. He'd be nice, but they don't need him.

They need to get a lefty reliever and another starter or 2(which is unlikely). With the current staff they have Boston would absolutely have no problem beating them in a 7 game series

hahaha... Typical. Red Sux nation is so much smarter than everyone else. Just ask...they'll tell you. lol :)
We'll see. Prospects are prospects....They aren't ready. The Tribe got a known commodity. He'll be just fine. Last time we had a situation like this, it was Jarret Wright for Kurt Shilling straight up.... Johh Hart had a tight a$$ about it and didn't pull the trigger. I think we all know how that all ended up. Sometimes, you have to have balls enough to pull the trigger on a big deal and I'm willing to take a chance on a 27 year old kid who won 19 games in the "Bigs" LAST YEAR....Not 5 years down the road. Strike when the iron is hot. Hell, we've got the kid through 2014 for crying out loud. It's not like it's a 2 month rental.

I guess the Harden deal is off for the Red Sox now.

@herecometheirish, I'm not entitled to an opinion because I'm a Red Sox fan? If you look at the kid's career, he has had one dominating stretch in 5 seasons. I'm just not convinced he is worth what Cleveland gave up. I'm not any more inclined to criticize a trade by Cleveland than I would be to criticize a trade by Colorado. I don't have a dog in that fight. If anything I root for Cleveland teams (except when they play my teams) because I empathize with their fans. I just think they gave up too much.

Also, who is 'Kurt Shilling'?? And any respectable red sox fan would never refer to red sox fans as "Red Sox Nation." That is marketing bullish!t and most fans think it's a joke.

Curt Shilling smarta$$.... lol :) Didn't realize the spelling police were on this late.

Never said you were not entitled to your opinion. Just stated that Red Sux fans think they're smarter than most of the entire free world like you read about. Glad you had your moment to shine and speak your mind as did I. I'm feeling pretty happy about things right now.

It's been said that he knew ahead of time that he was out of Colorado which makes it even more queer that he pitched tonight. Hell, they had a guy warming up next to him in the bullpen during pre-game for crying out loud. That's just a bit odd...
