Coach Mick has Gray, Hobbs, Moore and Golden coming back in 2025. Smith at nickel via the portal They're going to do well. He's going to be able to parlay that into something better one way or another be it at Notre Dame or elsewhere.

Prediction: there is a fight among the staff where to play Tae Johnson. I predict Mickens wins the fight and Johnson is CB3 who starts getting a lot of reps after a few games.

It'd be really easy to move him to safety to compete to be Watts' replacement, but i bet Mickens sees another Sauce Gardner in Tae.

Texas' safeties coach (Blake Gideon) just took the Georgia Tech DC job.

Be prepared for Mickens' name to come up regarding their vacancy.

Terry Joseph overseas the DB room, as he's listed as the DB coach, but Mickens can assume the cornerbacks coach role there.

Why would Mickens entertain a demotion & decrease in pay?

Why would Mickens presumably leave for a demotion & decrease in pay?

Think it through.

Mickens got passed over for a DC position by ND this year. Ash was brought in. If he's successful, he's likely going to be kept on. Unless he gets poached by another team or heads back to the NFL. Then Mickens continues to wait.

Sark has had Pete Kwiatkowski as his DC his entire tenure there. His name has been brought up as a potential HC down the line.

I personally would question the move. There is no guarantee Texas will need a new DC for the '26-'27 season, and even then, would Sark also not look outwards too to fill that role?

I see a Big Board on their site that specifically says safeties coaches they want to hire. Mickens style of defense also does not fit Pete Ks scheme. I don’t see it.

I believe he rather openly doesn’t really care to be a HC. He could have been one based off his Washington tenure if he wanted to.

Texas played no man against Ohio St.

It would be an adjustment for him to go somewhere to play zone

I assume MF knew this was a risk when he didn't hire him as DC. I thought it was being reported he was going to be co-DC, though. I assume that has at least been offered to him?
