The reason Elvis gets so mush love is because he was the first White Rock Star, thus making him the best. The only comparison i could think of is Babe Ruth (Ruth was the shit though, dont get me wrong). He is considered the best, but people forget players like Josh Gibson who was comparable.

the first white rock star? Did he come after the black rock stars? If this is true then Elvis is kind of like Jackie Robinson.
i already did.
This is like my freind, who when he has nothing left to continue an argument he just says in your face and walks away
Damn dude, what took so long? I was waiting for an I-Lew explosion, lol...
EDIT: I will say though, that he was relevant post 80's. He did the Free Willy soundtrack and had a couple huge hits. The Super Bowl that he performed at in the 90's was the only Super Bowl in history in which the ratings actually jumped at halftime, higher than at any point in the game (I was there, working the game; even though he lipsynched, the crowd was in awe. The suspense the crowd felt was unreal). He could still bring it, andeven though it was not at the level of the 80's, he was still unbelievably loved...
yeah i was about to throw another tantrum ...
R.I.P. Mike. You were a great, great entertainer.
Unfortunately, it's gonna suck watching this thread go downhill after a few posts.
In my opinion Elvis sucked but is the king of rock.
MJ had some great albums in the 80's (the end) and is the king of pop
The Beatles are the #1 most overrated band of all time.
All three of these artists are in the top 5 all time in selling records. Are they known because of there musical genius or because they were sexy and could moon walk?
So, it's official. They're saying Jacko died because of a peanut allergy. He tried to eat some 12 year old's nuts
i know you stole that diddy from some song, but Elvis inspired the Beatles which is more then Wacko ever inspired. Actually come to think of it you can thank him for all these crap boy bands, Brittney spears, and the rest of the crappy pop music out today.

False. Buddy Holly inspired the Beatles. As John Lennon himself said:
"Without the Crickets, there would've been no Beatles". The first songs John and Paul ever played together were Buddy Holly songs. Elvis was a good guitar player, but he was nothing the composer/songwriter that Buddy Holly was. Seriously. Elvis is completely overrated, Buddy Holly completely underrated. While we'll never know for sure, I'd be willing to bet big bucks that if Buddy hadn't died in that plane crash, HE would be considered the King of Rock n Roll, not Elvis. Buddy Holly wrote the VAST majority of his own songs (composition and lyrics), Elvis wrote a small fraction.
That's completely off the subject at hand, but I just wanted to have my say since TMQ hasn't stepped in to say it yet.
Elvis might have been Paul "she loves you, yeah yeah yeah" McCartneys biggest influence. But John " A day in the Life" Lennon, and George "while my guitar gently weeps" Harrison, were into cooler stuff obviously.
