Slight uturn on this thread...has anyone questioned if Denbrock has been involved in recruiting since coming on board? I know Golden is not...but I have not heard anything about him being involved or being mentioned by recruits. I find that odd, given that he is a top OC and we should be leveraging that like crazy.
Golden is absolutely involved and makes visits, he's just not on the road as much as the assistants. I would assume denbrock would be similar.

I certainly hope he is, but I haven’t heard his name thrown out in any recruitments. And whatever he is or isn’t doing sure hasn’t helped receiver recruiting.

Interesting that he would name our backup running back and the new tackles as the most improved....

Kinda glad we didn't end up getting Klein now, wasn't that impressed with his gameplan and Weigman. Perhaps we were destined to endure a season with Parker so we could get Denbrock back in the fold? It was a somewhat conservative gameplan, but I think it's what we needed in Week 1 to pull out a win. Leaned on the defense, offense did enough to get the W.

Agree

A great mix

So smart to not do 5-7 step drops and slinging it 40 yards down the field. Even though they didn’t get alot on first down, they didn’t get sacked or intercepted

In hindsight (mostly bc we won) I like that we ran so many screen concepts because that’s going to force opposing coordinators to actually have to gameplan for that going forward. The last couple of seasons with Tom and Gerry, you didn’t have to prep for it bc you knew it wasn’t in the playbook.

Salivating over the thought of a fake WR screen, Leonard draw for a 50 yard touchdown.

Reread this article by Jamie at ISD. This is by far what I’m most frustrated and disappointed in. We’re doing NONE of what made him successful and why we hired him. Why aren’t we running jet sweeps or basic counters?

Has to be Freeman. No other reason.

Still, there are openings. I’m pinning failures on Leonard first, but it also seems Freeman is dictating playcalling. He even said “I wanted to take a shot on 2nd and 1.

The guy he threw it to was open too. Just a horrific display of arm strength and accuracy.

That throw was so poor, that I have to believe his shoulder / arm was actually fucked up.

Or his feet weren’t anywhere near set. It almost seemed like his feet weren’t on the ground with the lack of drive and height on the ball. Just bizarre

Sounds like a serious injury. He better take a few weeks off.

The Irish don’t have a completion from Leonard beyond 20 yards (and just one at that number). The Irish don’t have a touchdown pass to a wide receiver from any quarterback, and the two thrown this season were from Steve Angeli to tight ends.
Probably not what anyone had envisioned

As the season has progressed I am happy with Denbrock’s play calling, considering our limitations. I feel like he’s getting people open.
Schematically he's done very well. There have been some questionable situational play calls IMO, but I think he's doing God's work otherwise, considering what he has to work with at the QB position.

And to think it was just a few months ago someone on here was saying Greg doesn't know ball. His breakdowns are great
