Carr played well, he did his part as a first time starter. The captains for the most part were pretty disappointing. Denbrock had some questionable calls. Played a top 10 team on the road and had a chance at the end. We will be fine, time to go on another run. I believe in Freeman

Hard to believe this program got dominated in the trenches on both sides.

Denbrock got super conservative trying to protect Carr, but doesn’t look like he needed it.

Ash wasn't great but Denbrock was worse. Running screen left, screen right for 3 quarters was abysmal.

Offensive line is terrible. Knapp sucks and is in terrible shape. He looks fine against bums like Purdue and Army and then chokes.

Miami's Oline was at least as good as advertised and some ombo of our offensive line played bad and their defensive line played well. Miami won that game in the trenches primarily.

Offensive line was bad, receivers were pedestrian, and our play calling on both sides of the ball left a lot to be desired.

Turns out Miami fans were more right about their team than Notre Dame fans were about theirs.

The team got better as the game went on. Miami is supposed to be a very good football team, and Beck and his receivers made a few incredible plays. Not concerned yet, but this massively turns up the pressure for the A&M game. tough way to start a season with a new qb.

Seriously he fucked Notre Dame picking Miami. Uncalled for on his part to pick against his Catholics for his last selection.

Positives:

Qb is going to be fine. Cool head and doesn’t seem to force throws.
The offense seems to find some rhythm in the second half and line play did improve.
Punter and kicker were both an asset.
The receiver core seems much improved.
Didn’t give up and pretty much won the 4th quarter.

Negatives:

Middle of the D line is a problem.
Offensive play calling was far too conservative.
The TE has to do a better job of catching the ball.

Offensive line getting no push. Hope Jagusah enjoys his next skydiving trip or whatever. Knapp is MAC level. Wagner was disappointing. Scrauth was always overhyped.

I’m usually pretty bummed after a loss but it’s a loss I’m okay with knowing the whole season is still in front of them. CJ’s INT was unlucky and easily could have been incomplete. CJ Daniels TD probably had a 1% chance of being caught and it was. Change those two things and ND wins by a touchdown. Game of inches.

CJ is the real deal. Denbrock was too conservative and was too worried about the rain. I thought Ash was fine. My defensive concern was lack of leaders and that’s only amplified now.

Tough to be an OL/DL driven program and get whipped like that.

Rest up, get pissed off, have a better offensive game plan and kill A&M

They lost the turnover battle and got ass smacked in the middle 8 and still barely lost,… that would be a good thing but our scheduling leaves zero error over the next month or the entire season is lost. THAT needs WAY more focus than the playcalling or whatever,… wtf are we doing, no one plays two top 15 teams and another good sec team in the first month of the season. It’s idiotic

Not going to lie I’m not that upset about our season outlook. We can really build on this and losing by three to a top ten team will not hurt us.

I agree with you. This team shouldn’t lose another game this season and should make the playoffs.

Loss by three points to a talented (yet not overly) Miami team on the road against a veteran QB with a QB making his first career start.

Lots to work out on both sides of the ball. But, no need for any dramatic hot takes.
