Lost to Bowling Green. So any hope that they’re some Cinderella team that will somehow retroactively make this loss look not as embarrassing is gone.

Typical. Unfortunately, everyone shows up when playing at ND on national TV. It's frustrating as hell seeing every team play their best game here, but then shit the bed against some shitty high school team their next game. It never ends.

Classic hangover game. They showed too much talent to lay an egg the rest of the way.

There is not a relational process to this sport.

No explanation can make anyone understand how Bowling Green loses to Eastern Kentucky, then turns around and beats a Marshall team that had just beaten Notre Dame in South Bend. They might be able to get endorsement deals now with Chipotle and the local Ford dealership, but they're still college aged athletes. Even the ones hanging around into sixth years becaue of Covid.

Enjoy every victory.

They lost 16-7 to Troy….

Goddamnit I’m still so fucking pissed about this game. This season and program have a completely different feeling right now if we don’t shit ourselves for 4 quarters against this piece of shit team.
Yep. Even if we'd shat ourselves but pulled out a win in the end... We've done that before and it has all turned out fine.

I still can't believe we were ahead in the fourth quarter and let them drive 90+ yards to score. Mind boggling.

The roller coaster ride of a young staff. If we play them now, we dust them.

Classic you learn more from your losses than your victories kind of moment, and it is a right of passage for young coaches that are successful in the future (he says hopefully).

ND lost to ND that game. Comparing that game to this game vs UNC was two different teams. Vs Marshall it was completely undisciplined play with zero execution

Agreed. I can’t remember who said it on one of the Irish pods, but ND went toe-to-toe w/ OSU & held their own w/ a chance to win until the 4Q. That close loss vs one of the best in the country & ND’s recent success for the returning starters led ND to take Marshall lightly & sleepwalk through that game. Mix in some costly errors by first time starters at key positions and ND fails to pull it out like they did vs Toledo or Vandy or Ball St., etc.

Saban lost to ULM, it's a bummer but a learning experience. Not saying Freeman is Saban, but we don't know that he isn't Saban, either. He probably isn't, but maybe he is Dabo, who took a long time to get going, too.

If anyone thought that there wasn't going to be growing pains for Freeman in his first season as a head coach, I don't really know what to say. Couple that with an uneven roster in terms of talent and depth of talent, and here they are. I think that Freeman is beginning to get his coaching legs under him, and they are coaching the offense based off of who is there. If they continue to go run heavy, and have Pyne run a lot of play action and work the seams instead of throwing outside the numbers with any degree of frequency, this is the best path to success. the defense will need to hold up their end of the bargain, of course, and the special teams will need to continue to play well.

I did think there would be so issues that cost us against the top teams not Marshall though.

Was hoping Marshall was going to be the next Cincy but instead they have folded like a bunch of one and some bitches. That makes us their bitch. Truly our most embarrassing loss from the 60’s on. This team is showing some true signs of life but still make some stupid mistakes which can be pinned on coaching imo. They just don’t make those kinds of mistakes under Kelly. The team I saw play UNC and even Cal minus some boneheaded avoidable mistakes can beat what looks like beatable Clemson USC and BYU. Even those won’t help us forget that Marshall head scratcher. Talk about underestimating your competition!!!
