Yeah i get that. Overall, it’s just never been an intimidating place for opponents. The best time I’ve had was when sitting next to fans like me which was 1997 GT, 2011 BC & 2014 UNC. I was at USC ‘99 and it was all longtime SC fans who made the trip every other year. 2012 was fun on Senior Day but the old crusty fans were visible so it was reserved.

Now 2004 at Neyland was a blast b/c UT fans were actually pretty cool…the place was super loud…and ND won (even though they choked numerous games that year against beatable teams that would’ve saved Ty’s job).
I was at the 1999 USC game when it was pouring and ND had a huge comeback. I lost my voice, face painted and had everyone around me riled up. Best football ever. Place was rockin. I need to go back more. I’m as loud as they come.

Freeman was an emotional lazy hire? He was highly highly thought of, and would have been a top candidate for other jobs.

Which established big name coach would have realistically come? Fickell? Wouldn't there be some risk there with him being not as dynamic a recruiter as MF? Aside from Fickell - who is a big name coach that would have come.

(If LA is a dump, then South Bend is Kandahar)
I feel like it's pretty weird to say that Marcus Freeman was the guy who could recruit at the level necessary to win at ND and the previous HC he worked for couldn't.

LA is a dump. As a lifelong resident who finally left stick to Toronto and protest Dr. Peterson. Tent cities, garbage everywhere, you know nothing about LA.
Parts of the LA metro area are great. Some suck. Most areas are nicer and safer than they were even 10 to 15 years ago never mind the 80’s and 90’s.

Dude, you have been only to the nice parts. I worked downtown and it is hard to tell Mexico City from LA in parts. The tent cities are everywhere including the side of the freeway. Again, I lived their, worked there and traveled everywhere in the city. It is a shithole. Sure nice parts exist, but Mexico City has real nice affluent parts.

I was there in the 90's snd it is today worse than ever. The homeless are rampant, it has never been so obvious. Crime is just one number, look at the complete picture.

Saying parts are nice when the rest is pure crap is like saying the titanic was a good trip most of the way.

Really? according to the just released 247 Composite Roster talent ratings, ND has top 10 talent. Sorry, but the people that are saying the roster is void of talent just don't have a clue

I used to go to punk shows all over LA in the 80’s and 90’s. Lived there for a number of years during grad school and visit family that live there fairly regularly stillI. I can say unequivocally that the Crenshaw, Long Beach, Venice, Silver Lake, Whittier and Echo Park areas are safer and nicer than they were then.

Paramount was pretty shitty last time I was there. San Pedro seemed nicer than I remember though.

Great, I will take you on a tour that will open your eyes and scare you. I said there is nice parts, but the city is a shithole by in large. Did Drive thru with your fucking eyes closed? Missed the tent cities and shit all over the freeway? I mean are you seriously arguing that LA is not a shithole in large part of the city? I know the way you vote by your acceptance of shit.

I was referring to Luke Fickell, who he was DC under before ND hired him. But yes, this team should not have lost to Marshall under ANY circumstance.

Punk rock wasn't music. It tells me your brain function, and you may be borderline retarded. I was surrounded by you illiterate fools.
I did manage to read the above and type a response, so on that note you are wrong yet again my friend!

Freeman should resign. He’s now the worst ever nd coach. If he cares about the kids on the team and university he should step down before he does further damage.

Did anybody do a “Positive Takeaways” yet?

1. Kiser was all over the place on defense. Turning into a tackling machine that is consistently around the ball. That will pay off if they figure out (remember?) how to punch the ball out.

2. Joe Alt was nearly invisible… which means he had a good day. Correll had a couple “still not moving his feet” plays early, but tightened up after that.

3. Michael Mayer… best TE in the country.

4. Styles is a legit number one receiver. He needs some more help.

5. Buchner can be a good college quarterback if Tommy drops his ego and embraces what works. Build the entire offense off of the quarterback counter. You can even keep using all the cute jet motion shit... as long as you follow through with the threat of counters, screens, and throwbacks. Buchner shouldn’t be asked to execute a deep throw from the pocket. He should be moving on every passing down. The only playaction in the playbook moving forward should include a rollout. Every mid-level throw should be a dash with a backside pulling lineman to protect his back. Treat this shit like high school, and let your athlete be an athlete. You aren’t Bill Belichick scheming your way to a natty with 11 personnel.

6. Bauman is a turning into a great compliment to Mayer, and there was a Staes sighting near the goal line. Keep using all of the TE’s to supplement an offense that obviously needs more blockers on the edge.

7. Liafau is great when asked to play in the middle. He is bad when given outside responsibilities. Use him as a 2-down backer until he remembers what “contain” means when playing as the edge defender.

8. Clarence Lewis basically without notice through two games… that’s good I guess?

9. Tariq Bracy keeps getting picked on, and keeps making good plays in the open field. Excellent to see, and feel really happy for the guy for coming back and stepping up.

10. Kick return was much better! Mason already solving problems and making changes from week one to week two. Good sign for the special teams, as was the late punt block. Could have used that earlier in the game.

Worst ever? Ever heard of Kuharich or Faust? Geez, stop the bed-wetting and overreaction. A little premature to fall to pieces, don’t you think?
He’s worst ever. First to go 0-3. Gave up biggest lead in program history. All within 3 games. You can’t do worse.

This is not even remotely comparable to most other Notre Dame HC take overs. Freeman took over a top-five program from Kelly.

thank you Lion. Great summary. Unfortunately your points underscore how the improbability of Satuday’s loss.

Goolsby made multiple references to Patterson throwing a fit after the game. Does anyone have an overview what happened?

Top 5 on paper, but look deeper. We should not have been rated top 5
