Lenzy's whole strength is supposed to be his speed, because he doesn't have the hands or the route running, and yet he can't seem to get open deep consistently. If we're going to stretch defenses and keep them honest we're going to probably need to hit some big 1 on 1 plays. Lenzy isn't winning those, so next man up. More than anything we need to be getting Merriweather reps for the future.

The staff just lost to Marshall...LOL I trust Tyree over this staff. Tyree should at least have 3 to 4 crossing routes a game. Not much in the slot, yet again.

I’ve read this a lot today & I have no idea if he would’ve made a difference or not. But for those who insist, ND doesn’t lose w/ BK today…what would he have done that turned the tide? Do we truly know? I mean his postgame locker room speeches seemed like theater but they usually came after wins so the players played along. So what key moves would BK have made in this game to reverse the outcome?

More than anything - we need a new staff. Rees has been a nepotism joke from the start. Criticize Kelly for bad hires but you protect Rees. Rees is a shitty OC. Face the facts.

Pyne is a joke. Tyler Buchner is a Lax player. "It takes a quick stick to beat a tight crease." - We don't have a QB! Ask the QB Coach about this issue? LOL.

Tommy needs to go. Marshall kept bringing a blitz off the edge damn near every play and there was no adjustment. No creativity or adjustments to counter their aggressiveness.

I wonder if this was a hangover from OSU? Did MF emphasize beating OSU too much?

We’ll see what kind of a HC MF is going forward.

Bingo. Yes BK did a great job from 2017-2021 but when folks reference that phenomenal run, they act like 2016 didn’t happen or that before that he led his team to losses to Navy, Air Force, Tulsa, USF, Northwestern & Louisville. Sure 8-5 was an improvement over the last three shit shows but it took a Come to Jesus moment after the 2016 debacle to right the ship. And I can admit I wanted BK canned after 2016. Glad it worked out the way it did but wasn’t expecting such a fall off once he left.

I agreed w/ OMM…we did look slow & unathlenticular. Was it a hangover? It shouldn’t have been considering it was MF’s ND Stadium debut. His players owed him more than that effort-wise IMO.

Tommy needs to set his game plan w/ the assumption that the QB will have no time to throw & that the RB will be hit behind the LOS and call his plays accordingly. It’s a damn shame that the upper class men who bypassed the NFL draft have shit the bed thus far: Jarrett Patterson, Jayson Ademilola, Isaiah Foskey all have regressed whether it’s being non-factors or committing silly penalties at critical junctures or whiffing on plays altogether.

In short, the powers that be at ND listened to the threats, feelings, and perspectives of 18-22 yr/olds instead of following a solid search process for a new head coach and team of coaches. All the talk was, the players wanted Freeman. The Tommy talk was similar.

It seems from the outside looking in that we hired Freeman and Tommy because that's what the players wanted and if we didn't there would have been some type of revolt or mass exodus. Well, now look what pot of crap we're sitting in.

I had serious concerns after the bowl game. Serious concerns. Freeman looked way over his head. He still does. While we may not be able to pinpoint all that is broken, it seems clear, MANY things are broken. And I just don't think that can be chalked up to Kelly's departure or players who exited after the 2021 season. This level of "stink" seems to be squarely on the shoulders of the current coaching staff.

I think the coaching staff made a terrible mistake by not bringing in a Quarterback. Why? Buchner has not played enough football. He still needs A LOT OF TIME to develop. He missed a lot of time due to injuries in High School. In fact, he missed an entire season with a Torn ACL. He also did not compete in his senior year due to covid. The reality is this kid almost does not have experience playing football. Only played 22 games in four years of High School. For example, Bryce Young played 52. So, taking this into account and with the other QBs being Pyne and a Three-star true freshman, this is a brutal mistake. Even if it's nice having that kind of confidence on Buchner, it's stunning to me how they have settle with just Buchner-Pyne-Angeli.

Agreed. Especially when you factor in ND going w/ a first time defensive-minded HC. Bringing in an experienced signal caller (like Coan last year) allows MF to ease himself into the role as HC. Look at all the proven QBs who were in the portal: Slovis, Daniels, Rattler, Dillon Gabriel & others. Some may not have been available due to timing (I think Rattler was off the board pretty quick) but u get the idea. Not saying an established QB would cure all ills….but I think it’s one less key component that can give ND a better chance to win.

Too late now. Time to roll w/ what they got and hope for improvement week-to-week.
