3rd pickThe playcalling on the second Buchner INT was so, so bad.
Yes play call was bad but it doesn’t give Buchner a free pass to execute the play as poorly as possible

You call plays for the personnel that you actually have, and you need to know how likely it is that a play call is going to be poorly executed, given that personnel. The air raid approach made no sense given how that game was going. That particular play call at that point in the game was one of the worst play calls I have ever seen.3rd pick

I disagree completely. It absolutely does.3rd pick

What? Man you’re losing it on this crusade to defend Buchner. He’s not good.I disagree completely. It absolutely does.
Tommy is the experienced play caller, Buchner is the dude who hasn't played in 3 months and has had several inconsistencies. It is 100% on him. As a coach, you don't put your players in position to fail. Why are you going pass-happy near the goal line while you are missing easily your best red-zone target in Mayer?
Why put the game in the hands of a guy who is insanely rusty, not overly experienced and has thrown the ball inconsistently all game, when you are destroying them with the run that entire drive and have them gassed?
I'm not one to crap on Tommy, because I think he's a smart guy and a promising OC. But that was absolutely one of the dumbest play calls I've ever seen.
Well, when you put it that way...What? Man you’re losing it on this crusade to defend Buchner. He’s not good.
Example?Well, when you put it that way...
This is why you can't be taken seriously. You make irrational, ignorant claims, and when you're called out on it, you move the goalposts to make it seem like the other person who is calling you out is being irrational. You start making arguments that weren't even being argued.
For the umpteenth time, this wasn't even originally about Buchner. I never said he was good. I only maintained he had potential to be good if he had the opportunity to develop, which is a very fair take, considering what we saw. Very inconsistent, but Buchner did flash his ability to make great plays. It didn't happen here because he got hurt and he ultimately lost out to a very good QB in Hartman, who provided that consistency now instead of developing it later. As the OC, Tommy ultimately has the responsibility to put his offense in position to succeed. Buchner was woefully inconsistent in the bowl game, so putting him in position to make a play that was very risky when Estime was destroying their run defense is indefensible. There was zero reason to put Buchner in that situation, so to blame him at all for it, knowing his limitations and inconsistencies, is laughably dense. Tommy is the boss. It falls completely on him, especially when it was his absurdly bad call that caused the swing.
If you think any of that is irrational, then that's your problem and you might be losing it. On the contrary, it seems like you have lost it in an attempt to completely bash anything that can be even remotely construed as positive towards Buchner.
Wow. You really want us to actually take you seriously when THAT is your comparison?Example?
And basically you’re blaming the coach for calling an 0-2 fastball just because the pitcher threw a belt high cock shot right down the middle, and arguing that’s logical.
If Buchner can’t execute the play call and know when and where to throw the ball, well my point stands. Teams score touchdowns throwing the ball inside the 10 regularly. I can’t even process the stupidity you’re arguing at this point. I’m going to see myself out.
Vaginal hubris?Rees blew both the Stanford and Marshall games by having game plans that were too cute. Against Marshall, he didn’t expect their secondary to be that good and didn’t expect our defense to get gashed like that. Against Stanford, he spent way too much time trying to force the passing game to work when he could’ve just pounded the ball. Hubris.
I will take a Natty by any means necessary tbh. This Northwestern situation has only raised my personal bar for Marcus Freeman. I want him to win a lot of games, yes, but more than all else I want him to do the right things when no one is watching. Be accountable and honest. Set a true example of what it means to be a leader and a man, and a leader of men.
Very, very simple.
Pretty sad, but you no doubt have company.I will take a Natty by any means necessary tbh.
Honorable Natty > Frozen Five getting blown out at a shot at the Natty. ND won’t have to forfeit wins years later that way.I will take a Natty by any means necessary tbh.
Let’s not get holier than thou. ND has forfeited games in the past.Honorable Natty > Frozen Five getting blown out at a shot at the Natty. ND won’t have to forfeit wins years later that way.
If he can win big this year, it's going to get nutty.Marcus is really going to be a star if he has success at ND. He's so damn likable. Really the perfect personality for this program.
Our ball coach.
Don’t you mean win some championships? Games lolIf he can win some games we are looking at the next statue and then a new entrance to the stadium. LFG
I really think that he could have gotten one even without a championship had he stuck around for 5-10 more years. It wouldn't have been right away but maybe like 20 years from now. As big of a bastard he is and a POS for how he skirted out of the program, we would be in the dark ages without him. When is BK’s statue going up?
