Stop, his 6 day formal itinerary that's been shown is next to none of that. It's going to hotels and dinners with alumni, past players, and former players.

Yes he went to the white house, but that wasn't an ND thing.

I do think he's a great representative of ND, but I also think spending the majority of the last two weeks at alumni events is excessive.
Those alumni probably choose to donate to the program, so I wouldn’t really call it wasteful

Genuine question, what would you rather he be doing? He’s not allowed to recruit right now. Players are on break. Coaches are on the road.

A ton of focus on the transfer portal and grad transfers. I will say, i know the evaluation period rules but i'm not sure what a HC can do right now regarding players in the portal or grad transfers?

I think that anything that MF can do to stir up support, positive press coverage and general excitement for the program is a huge plus. The more he is in the public eye positively equals an improved program. Yes, results on the field and in recruiting are of utmost importance but there are always other factors that contribute to the overall success.

Speaking of him spending time doing all things at all hours...my team at work got me a Cameo video from MFMF for my birthday last week. HIGHLY recommended. Dude is magnetic and took the time and effort to personalize the message to the point it hit my emotional buttons.

Even better, he donates the proceeds to charity.

REALLY hope he outperforms Lou as a coach...

I have three under the age of 13 and I'm running around locally. He's got six and he's all over the country. It's got to be hard missing the family time.

Yeah. This to me is the part I don’t fully understand. His wife must be an incredibly impressive person. And probably more valuable to the program than any assistant coach.

I may just be a little sour because we didn't have a very good 2022 season and recruiting is no where near where it was at this time last year.
I think you should start each post with this phrase

Shocking you disagree with something the coaching staff or the university is doing. I am totally shocked.

There has been multiple reports out that said Alumni felt very disconnected during the BK era and he is trying to fix that. We have one of the wealthiest alumni bases in all of college football and in the age of NIL it is very important to making them feel connected to the program.

Then when Freeman eases BACK on doing all this travel and palm pressing in a few years, people will piss and moan that he's aloof and not doing what he can with the alumni. It's a vicious cycle because BK was hitting the circuit early too as I recall. He had the political background from before he got back into coaching and he was pretty good at it.

Yep there was definitely a point - a couple years into the job - where BK shifted from doing the endless events/alumni circuit to focusing more on the team itself. He talked about it at the time, said all that was a distraction from his players and coaches.
Freeman will too, at some point. It’s a natural evolution.

She's the real MVP
Hopefully she gets on and along with the other parents at the kids' schools and is playing a positive role in the community.

Their oldest son is a freshman at Penn I believe. He's a wrestler. He was at Culver prior as I understand it.

He gets paid millions of dollars. He is a high achiever. He is young so its easier. With all that is going against ND's program (i.e. NIL, Shitty Admin support) he needs to work hard just to keep ND competitive. I feel a bit bad for him. But he is cutting his teeth at ND.

MF & BK have 2 different personalities. I remember BK telling the team when he first arrived he could tell the difference between the players he recruited vs. the players Weis recruited that were still on the team. I don't think MF would ever do that.

I think the ND fanbase & alumni got a bad taste in their mouths when BK tested the NFL waters in 2013.

Is attendance down at home games because people got sick of BK?

Seems like MF is trying to win back some of the fanbase & alumni and look at last year's B&G game when almost 300 prior players came back.

Just like recruiting ND goes coast to coast, so does MF, and I cannot think of anyone better than MF to represent ND.

Marcus Freeman was 100% the right higher for ND and they could go 9-4 this year and I will still think the same. Kelly would stunk at ND with the new NIL rules. Freeman is killing it and his energy is unmatched he flew out to watch the lacrosse team today and he was at a lot of the girls basketball games the dude gets it

I agree, I think NIL was the reason Kelly left. If he stayed with the current environment of college football we would have been screwed
Kelly wasn’t a good recruiter we lost quite a few high rated guys because of him he was lazy

That’s your criteria for killing it as the coach of ND football?

Yeah because with the current NIL rules I don’t think there’s a coach that could do any better than him recruiting wise
Possible…. But there’s a lot of coaches that are better at say… coaching right now. hopefully freeman improves quickly. I do love that he seems to not have a big ego and is willing to improve/learn.
