We went on a college day to IT when I was in 8th grade and the fact that they had a bowling alley in their student center immediately vaulted them to top tier university status in my 13 year old mind.
That must have been well before my time. I was building that baseball stadium/hanging banners w/ Hersh when that campus was just a square block.

Yeah I don’t know enough about him but I agree with you here. One of the advantages some claim about NFL over college is the constant recruiting of players. Even after you secure their commitment you have to keep recruiting them. Cignetti has found a loophole of sorts in that he has the resources to attract established players to come in as rentals via free agency. Look at how many kids he recruited to JMU & brought with him to Bloomington. That’s a helluva job of talent evaluation considering they were everything from 0 stars to 2 stars.
I’ve always said next year we’ll see how good he is at this. I have to think it was fairly easy to convince all of those JMU players to come with him. That helped build their culture. Next year he won’t have those guys.

Cig refuses to have a GM in college... he isn't going to the NFL without having a big say in personnel.

Cheating narrative has to be the biggest copium I've ever seen. Not sure why I expected better from ND fans. This is QAnon SEC shit
It’s a discussion board where we are discussing relevant topics. We’re not sitting here saying “this is the only reason they’re winning.”

We’re sharing posts and @arrowryan quite literally had a coach tell him there’s smoke to this.

If you want to see IU hyped up and sucked off in every thread, there’s plenty of IU boards for the next 8 days to join.

Read the playoffs thread. Pretty good twitter thread on there that lays out how statistically unlikely this is with their talent composite. No direct evidence more an appeal to math and historical data.
An important thing to keep in mind is that interpreting historical data requires context, and what that twitter thread completely failed to do was consider the context of the new transfer/NIL rules + the effect of Covid related age waivers.

It’s not hugely surprising, and certainly not probative of cheating, that a seismic shift in the underlying ruleset has led to statistically anomalous results.

Still. It’s pretty crazy.

i don't know the law as well as some others but can IU sue this guy for spreading false lies if and only they didn't do what he claims

You can always sue.

Here, assuming the claim is false, you’d probably easily satisfy the first two elements of a libel claim: it’s false, it was published. I think you’d probably also clear the intent requirement, it’s certainly negligent and probably malicious (again, assuming it’s actually false).

The big hurdle would be proving damages, which are both an element of a libel claim and what you’d use to define what you’re asking the court to give you. Arguably you wouldn’t need damages to to win on your claim since hacking can be criminal activity and damages can be assumed in libel cases where the defamatory statement implies criminal activity, but even then the question would be is the juice worth the squeeze.

So unless the NCAA opens an investigation into Indiana specifically citing this guys claim, I think I’d stay out of court over random twitter posts if I were king if Indiana.

Ok but for real what is up with all of the chatter the last 24 hours about them cheating?

The jump just doesn’t seem possible. We saw Indiana play last year. Is this team better? Yes. If Mendoza played on last years team instead of Rourke, are they winning playoff games by 30? I don’t think so. You’re basically asking last years portal class + improvements to be worth 10, 20, 30 points? I don’t know man. The line between “wow Indiana is really prepared all the time” and or they are cheating seems small. People can cite their age but NFL players aren’t prepared all the time. They don’t win with an awe inspiring amount of talent like an old Bama or Clemson or 2019 LSU. The closest comp stylistically is…..2023 Michigan.
