Didn't they lose to Northwestern too?
Yeah, but that's not as bad of a loss. Wisconsin and Northwestern probably field about the same talent, whereas there's no reason we aren't far superior to NW.

Talk to some Wisconsin fans. I don't think they'd agree with you. Wisconsin shouldn't be losing to Northwestern either. Nor should Missouri lose to Indiana. But that's why the games are played.
BK certainly has some head scratching moments in games with play calling, decisions, clock management...but we also watch ND with passion and analyze things to a much deeper degree than coaches of other teams...if we aren't turning the ball over 50xs a game and 1 penalty called we would be singing praises....we are all pissed that our hopes have been squashed but Kelly is the man for the job.
Almost every one of my friends are Wisconsin fans, lol. They're much happier with Anderson than Biellema.
Of course they are. That's not saying much though---Bielema was not well liked. I don't think Arkansas fans have embraced him either.
But my point really is that to most Wisconsin fans, losing to Northwestern is an embarrassing loss.
What does it matter if their fans are embarrassed or not? If NW and Wisconsin are fielding the same amout of talent, it's not that crazy of a loss.
chris mort just stated that he would be a top candidate for Florida job and has heard his name around the nfl circle being mentioned
Bovada has odds on the next #Florida HC: Gundy 4/1; McElwain 9/2; Bob Stoops & Mullen 11/2; RichRod & Shanahan 7/1; Freeze & Spurrier 8/1

The ND Nation crowd has been going down this road since Kelly was hired and not one of those clowns can offer up a realistic alternative. Chances are if nobody can suggest a realistic alternative, there isn't one. I hang with some pretty avid CFB fans and not one can come up with a realistic replacement.
As for it could be worse: you bet it can. How could we forget the Davie, Willingham, and Weis years? I for one have no desire to return to those days just to take a gamble on someone who may prove to be a disaster. Firing someone who is a known quantity for being at least moderately successful to hire someone who may be better but could also prove to be a disaster makes absolutely no sense.
Man. I really hope Kelly doesn't read this (and probably other) boards.
He rebuilt the program from dirt, took us to the title game and routinely reels in some of the best recruiting classes outside the South. He deals up with more extracurricular BS than any other coach in big-time football and was a stand-up guy throughout the whole Frozen Five affair with no support from the university. He's finally got his offense humming and is an epic run of bonehead turnovers and a bad pass interference flag away from being undefeated. And then he makes a few bad calls in a close game, his captain running back fumbles a put-it-away run and his senior kicker yaks all over the field, and now half this crowd is ready to toss him.
Did Saturday suck? Of course. But it's one game. If I was him I might just give us ingrates the finger and head for the NFL.
Man, you gotta be easily impressed.
Andersen is someone to keep an eye on but he's still a major question mark right now. He's only in his 5th year as a head coach and has 1 win ever against a Power 5 team not from the Big Ten (Utah, 2012) with his win this past weekend over Nebraska probably being the best of his career.
He's also sneaky old (he'll be 51 in February) which isn't great considering he got into head coaching pretty late in his career.

Kelly I can see taking the Bears gig and proably bolt to somewhere else .....who knows with him, but I'd be supprise if Saban bolts again for the nfl, I mean he's got a $ 40 million dollar contract with Alabama for now but if they go to the NC game I'm sure they'll give him a new deal.
Sign Kelly to a 10 yr contract immediately.
Not gonna read every post in the last two pages because this has gotten ridiculous. If you want BK fired, you're a f'ing idiot.
They've all say that.Until he actually starts interviewing I'm not going to be concerned. He's on the path to become a legend at Notre Dame, which he'd always said was his dream job anyway.

I don't think anyone is clamoring for him to be fired.
Instead, I think people have a legitimate concern that BK might not be the guy that can take the program from good to great (channeling my inner Jim Collins). If this year keeps up, he will have had 4 pedestrian years with one fantastic year sandwiched in the middle.
What's alarming is that the special year looks like an absolute outlier given that:
- the team relied on a defense that dominated the LOS, which there is no indication that will be replicated any time soon nor will they be close to it
- the offense was a ball control, low risk offense that looked to establish the run first, where as the other four seasons under Kelly relied on QB play and featured a more pass first mentality. BK's refusal to rely on the run in tough times this year only adds to this sentiment
Given those concerns, it is reasonable for anyone to conclude that maybe BK has a high floor and low ceiling and discuss whether or not it's worth the risk of looking to replace BK in the future if his trend line continues.
This
How easily we forget where this team was about 3-4 weeks ago.
Really don't care if he leaves for the NFL but losing him to another College team will sting.
