You didn't have to
Questioning the philosophical principle of how the committee determines their list has absolutely nothing to do with any specific school. You didn't have to
I’m sorry my silly scenario offends you. I’m sure a good therapist could help you with that problem.Your silly scenario made zero sense, even down to the committees logic.
Say you and I are both street fighters...and I fight thirteen 9 year olds and don't lose. You fight twelve 19 year olds and go 11-1. Does that make you a better fighter? And on top of that, you now have a broken leg...and you have to let your girlfriend fight...but now it's time to fight 19 year olds...what do you think happens??Yes. They where 11-1. FSU was 13-0
Math. It's complicated tho.
12-1 is not as good as 13-0
so,.. if you lose 1 game out of 13...... shit... what am i doin...
I agree UW gets beat by UT. Don’t know if I’ll go as far to say ‘curb-stomped’ but their defense is trash.I think the worst part of the whole thing is the PAC-Dissolved is going totally unquestioned.
Last 10 Titles ; 6 SEC, 3 ACC, 1 BIG 10
Everyone thought (knew) the Pac-12 sucked for years ;
I predict they get curb-stomped by Texas.
- They have zero notable non-conference wins (5-7 Florida (UTAH), 6-6 Tx Tech (Oregon), 7-5 Wisconsin (Wash. St.), Or Washington's best Boise St.).
- All these top 25 wins are just fabricated on where this committee put them.
- Washington almost lost to Stanford.
- Hype was Prime and Caleb Williams; then they forgot to cancel it. Bo Nix is still meh. Penix is cool but he's basically just Gardner Minshew with Leach and a better WR.
Serious question. As you read this, do you feel FSU is the better team? Forget records (I get it...why play the games) just flat out your life depended on a team winning...who are you riding with?Matters little what any of us thinks now, what’s done is done. Best to understand the foundation of the decision rather than the results it produced.
As I stated before, I believe Georgia and Alabama are both most likely better at the current time than the team that FSU had on the field against Louisville. That is not at the core of my issue today. While I might disagree with that as the criteria, it is the criteria the committee used. I wish to test out the sound logic behind such a standard. Wether it’s that teams lie or hide injuries or some other result it seems a flawed basis to determine the teams.Serious question. As you read this, do you feel FSU is the better team? I agree, and at least it shouldn't happen again, going to 12 teams. As I stated before, I believe Georgia and Alabama are both most likely better at the current time than the team that FSU had on the field against Louisville. Then pick a different sport to follow that uses the direct results of teams records and tiebreaks to determine playoff seeding. CFB has always had an element of subjectivity to it and that's a big reason why many of us love the sport. Is there anything more fun that arguing and predicting rankings every week?As I stated before, I believe Georgia and Alabama are both most likely better at the current time than the team that FSU had on the field against Louisville. There’s video circulating on twitter of Kirk and the game day crew stumping for a 1 loss SEC championship winner getting in over FSU weeks ago - actually during the show the morning of Jordan’s injury. This has nothing to do with his injury and has everything to do with wanting certain teams in and working their way backwards from there. If Jordan Travis wasn't hurt FSU would be in. This decision had nothing to do with conference bias.
Yea but what if I saw that group of nineteen year olds fight the twelve year olds and the twelve year olds actually have a winning record over them?Say you and I are both street fighters...and I fight thirteen 9 year olds and don't lose. SEC SOS is entirely propped up on itself. The conference routinely doesn’t play serious OOC games and when they do, it doesn’t show that they are any better than the other leagues. They have a losing record against almost every major conference this year.
There is only a single season (before this one) where the SEC was not given the top seed. In one of those two years, the SEC was given two teams to compete in the playoffs. They were also then not pitted against each other after just having a conference championship game because the committee wanted an interesting match up -- an undefeated UCF and one loss Wisconsin are left out. This is true, but what is also true is that over the last decade, the top SEC teams have gone on to prove they're the best in football. It's played out on the field. No one, not named Clemson or OSU, has been able to come close to competing with them*. They've earned that benefit of the doubt, imo. Forget the rest of the conference. It's Bama/Georgia and everyone else until proven otherwise.
*I know they have lost regular season games, but I'm speaking about playoffs and championships.

The committee wishes they could've put Georgia in the playoffs again this year but that would've required them either leaving out 2 undefeated teams or an undefeated team and a team that beat Bama head to head.
And again, apparently only other conferences have to schedule tough OOC games and even when they do they can be left out as an undefeated, the SEC gets one-loss teams in on merit of the conference alone which we hype up because of their performance in a playoff system that favors them.
And I know the SEC's top teams are freaking good especially historically. But this Bama and this Georgia team? No, they ain't it.
ESPN has an SEC media deal, so they have to promote them as it promotes their own product. The problem is that ESPN has too much influence in this space. We need a more decentralized media presence in that country but unfortunately 85% the media overall is a big conglomerate run by 6 big companies. They will always promote their own brands and opinions. There’s video circulating on twitter of Kirk and the game day crew stumping for a 1 loss SEC championship winner getting in over FSU weeks ago - actually during the show the morning of Jordan’s injury. Yes, I saw the 6-4 record....South Carolina lost twice and FSU beat LSU week 1 and UF. That's 4...what else are we talking Wake beating Vandy? Miami beating A&M? Granted FSU handled business...but let's not act like UGA was out there losing to Lville, and Bama was out there losing to NC State...Yea but what if I saw that group of nineteen year olds fight the twelve year olds and the twelve year olds actually have a winning record over them?

Yep. Doesn't matter what anyone thinks now. It's done and next year we go to 12 teams, so what's the point of debating? Please, enough of the whining. Soak in the tub. See your therapist. Sit down and pee. Figure something out rather than complain ad nauseum.
Kinda hard for them to lose to those schools when they won't schedule them.Yes, I saw the 6-4 record....South Carolina lost twice and FSU beat LSU week 1 and UF. You can't honestly think the SEC is afraid to schedule the ACC....Right? Look at all the SEC out of schedule games the last few years. I mean Bama beat UT last year. Below is a break down and matchups by conference record, do you think the SEC goes 4-6 when comparing apples to apples?? I see 9-1 MAAAAAYBE 8-2Kinda hard for them to lose to those schools when they won't schedule them.
And Bama did schedule one real out of conference game...and they lost.
You're literally assuming these teams beat the others despite having proof that they have routinely lost to them. It's not just the ACC either. The SEC has a losing record to the other conferences as well. They are 1-2 against the Big 12 this year. You can't honestly think the SEC is afraid to schedule the ACC....Right? As ND fans we watch a ton of ACC football, and living in Atlanta I watch a ton of SEC football. It's like watching two different sports. The kids are just flat out better down here, and that's why 16 of the last 17 Natty were won down here in the South. It's literally undebatable....My last point to emphasize competition down here....Dylan Raiola (#1 HS QB, dominated out west) transferred to the BEST high school football team in the state of Georgia (7A).....And lost in the quarterfinals...Everyone is good down here, it's life...and you wouldn't understand, unless you've lived it. I was an SEC hater for years, then I realized I was just a hater.
Bama (W) vs FSU

You're acting like I'm arguing in favor of the ACC as a conference. No, I'm arguing that this idea that the SEC is just better is a fucked up way of thinking.
It's not the P5 anymore. Thanks to ESPN brainwashing you and the rest of the populace -- It's the SEC, Second Tier 4, and the G5. I have watched plenty of SEC teams look like utter dogshit this season. Bama being one of them. I think all Bama fans would acknowledge that their team this year isn't as good as their team last year. They aren't some kind of juggernaut that it would be shame if they were left out of the playoffs.
All fair points. The talent in the south is undeniable. You can't honestly think the SEC is afraid to schedule the ACC....Right? Look at all the SEC out of schedule games the last few years. I do agree that college football is more popular than ever and the sport is not being hurt by NIL or the portal. It may even be increasing the popularity despite the grumbling that goes on by die hard college football fans. This was the most watched season of college football ever according to the TV ratings.
This committee knew whatever four teams they picked wasn't going to matter and people are going to watch.
