While we're at it, let's add some seats. We have plenty of fan base to follow the "if you build it, they will come" theory. I'd like a big-house type of atmosphere that enhances the home-field advantage.

We could easily sell out every game even with 100,000 seats I'm all for it. Time to bring ND stadium into the 21st century

I would like it opposite side of the Press Box

That side and the side the press box would be best for visibility but the press box is there. If you did just the opposite side everyone on that side couldn't see it.

I sat in the worst seat in the house for the msu game. I was in the highest seat in a corner. I could still see the game and enjoy it. Go any father away and you won't be able to see what is going on.

i say put it away from touchdown jesus so home crowd/students get best view.... add in seats to fill in the bowl to 110,000 and i will be very happy.... with all the new parking the added the common parking garage this might be sooner than later... i want to watch the game not a jumbotron but for replays/old great plays/challenges it would be so nice... to keep the crowd loud and into the game....

Whiskey thats why I asked how many and where.
Irish if you add those seats you will have to watch it on the jumbo to see whats going on. I do like the idea of having one now. Tv time outs kill the crowd but if you do it you have to do it right.

Very true.... God forbid NBC forgets to work in a commercial opportunity completely disrupting the flow of the game.

Me too, adding the additional 20,000 seats or so would bring in more students and making the average age of fans at the game to around, oh maybe,..... 60ish???? :devil_2:

If you look at the placement during the msu game you would think they tried to hurt nd and help msu by when they did/didn't have them. It is horrendous.

Is it really that bad at the Stadium? I've only been to road games and the ND fans are usually 20's to 30's. Young and energetic fans. At least in the NYC area anyway.

Totally agree with the idea of expanding the stadium. I know it's obviously easier said than done, and it should be done in a classy way, but I'm sure there are enough smart people at ND to make it happen.

an extra 20,000 seats? those will easily sell. It's hard enough to get ND tickets as it is. maybe then they can lower the ridiculous ticket prices to a slightly less "wtf?" level. That's another one of the huge problems causing the lack of a good atmosphere--the ticket prices. you don't see too many just-out-of-college alumni. you mostly see the 60 year old guys who can afford to fork over 70+ bucks (per ticket!) every saturday, and that's the reason there are so many of them there.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not calling out the older people--they obviously have a right to go to the game, and participate as they please, whether that's standing and cheering or sleeping in their seats, but it's not fair to the younger people who can't afford it. that's a HUGE reason ND stadium doesn't have as good of an atmosphere.

it's pretty simple. high ticket prices=less young people=quieter stadium=less of a homefield advantage.

and until the ticket prices lower, this won't change.

It truly is... I was listening to Sampson and (forget the other dude's name) on II tonight on their podcast and they said themselves that the homefield advantage is non-existent. Then someone sent in an e-mail stating that ushers and fans are making others sitting down during games. Neither could fathom the idea as they hadn't sat in the stands for 25 years+, but if true, that it was a huge mistake. Let me tell you....It actually happens and I've actually seen people thrown out of the stadium for standing during games. Pathetic.

Funny video, but that video screen is a perfect example of what ND should NOT do. Tacky with all the ads.

I've heard all the stories of being told to sit down, but it has never happened to me (4 games) in our section that we always sit. But this year at the USF game, my buddy went to seats about a section over with some guys that we met during the first evacuation. 2nd half starts, our section (right where TJ let the ball bounce off his face) was going nuts, especially us, and some d-bag (not very old, maybe mid 30's) with his 12-ish year-old daughter yells at us to sit down. We're like, "Hell no bro, you sit at home! You need to stand too!"

2 minutes later, he comes an usher with a cop telling us we had to sit down. Un-effing-believable. Our season was on the line and we had to sit?????? We could only stand on 3rd down. I felt so bad for the daughter, having a father like that.

It's not just the elderly guys, it's even people far younger, and it's a friggin' joke...

I think you could put 2 in the corners of the stadium, angled with the curve and visible to everyone. I'm thinking across from the student section (above section 103-106) and then kiddy corner from that (to the right of the pressbox, if looking out from inside) above sections 121-124.

I was always in the middle on this topic, didn't really care either way-until I was at the Big House and saw what those boards did to the crowd. I've been there before for big games and this game ran away competition wise for a loud crowd.
