Spindler is not a P5 dlinemen.
Rudolph could very well be the very best thing to happen for his career. Hopefully the coaching change and the realization this spring is his best opportunity to stake his claim alongside his classmates. One that will close quickly given the talent and options at the position.

Isn’t Harry leaving the first time what helped propel Eichenberg to getting the starting LT spot? Thought I read somewhere that if Harry stayed Liam wouldve been on the bench. It worked out for Liam, why not Rocco?

Literally everything I’ve heard from beat reporters on Spindler has been underwhelming. I think this is pure conjecture by Hansen and he is going off of recruiting rankings. People were saying Schrauth had already passed him last year. Would be very happy if it turned on for Spindler
To be fair, Eichenberg was basically an afterthought until Harry left for the Bears in 2018.

He eventually turned into a consensus All-American.

Harry is a very good OL coach, but he does seem to have a habit of being divisive with "his" guys and the other guys. Basically, you either turn into a stud or you are an afterthought.

Excellent article on Rudolph and Duo blocking scheme he favors. Uses some zone concepts. HH was teaching some of this as well. The O-line is in good hands.

Lads,
The line was dominant in both phases today.

ND can only be a title contender if the oline is Joe Moore award level. Saw big blocks from both guards.
I think that’s the key as much as anything. We’ve got two rookie guards. Spindler and Patty Coogs exceeded expectations today.

That's basically the same Navy front 7 personnel that kicked our asses last year. Something changed. Obviously replacing Pyne with Hartman is a big part of it. But I'm inclined to give Rudolph a lot of credit too. OLine was excellent today.

The first first down of the year we ran for 10 yards to get it. Rocco just annihilated the Nose tackle.

I’m not gonna get into all the past coaches mistakes and who was the best. But almost every year for the past god knows how long, the OL was supposed to be a strength. This year it actually looks and feels that way.

It's one week, but I was a bit concerned with Rudolph, not going to lie. Some of it has to do with recruiting - despite it being a down year, I have concerns that Rudolph seemingly recruits smaller OL - but also because I wasn't all that impressed with his work at VT.

That being said...Saturday was a terrific start, and I'd be happy to be wrong about this guy.

I'd hope the O Front at least thanked them for their service. Madon....

He didn’t fully recruit the 2024 OL class.
The first OL class that’s his is not small, they are huge.
Strebig 6’8 300
Augustine 6’7 290
Black 6’7 295
Byrne 6’6 290
The two top OL in the class Sanders & Petty, aren’t even big. 255 & 260.
And Rudolph was very well respected at VT & Wisconsin.

Yeah, I know they won’t look that good against everyone on the schedule, but it’s the first time I call recall more recently that we see the accolades on the field. I realize that we’ve had some good to great OL’s in the past, but they never really felt that great to me. Coaching and attitude is everything. If this continues it just makes me wonder what our past lines could’ve been. It’ll be fun to watch.

Rudolph was the o line coach for Jonathon Taylor’s lines, when he was setting records. I’m starting to think there’s a reason Chryst made Rudolph an associate head coach while he was at Wisconsin.

A large majority of the guys he recruited at Wisconsin and VT were sub 300 pounds. Again, if he can get guys that are all projection, awesome - we need to develop those too. But the big boys are bringing in monsters year after year. Look at Georgia and Alabama.
