I need a pep talk fellas. I can't shake this feeling that the on-campus game was so electric and amazing that the Orange Bowl is going to feel like a let-down by comparison.

JFC - I just came from the Sugar Bowl if you want to talk about a neutered crowd. Atmosphere was still awesome. Silly to think a neutral site with half the stadium split to schools and the other half locals and scalpers will be anything like a home game but winning in person is always worth it.

1) I really like this matchup for ND. Put 8 in the box against PSU and dare Allar to beat you wish his average WR's. And their O line is weak compared to UGA.

2) I work with a few PSU grads and may avoid the office this week.

3) My Godson plays in the PSU band.

4) A buddy of mine from high school is a Catholic priest. I encouraged him to issue an edict for the diocese that Catholic PSU fans/ grads don't receive any sacraments until February. I'll keep yall posted on that one.

Update on bullet 4) said priest friend is going to the game thanks to a few parishioners who got his ticket. If you see a 350 pound bald white guy in a blue ND jersey #63, that's my guy. I got him the jersey personalized for marrying us.

And...given the game and circumstances, you'd never guess he's a priest with the foul language that will be flowing from his mouth before, during, and after this game.

As we are now under 48 hours until kickoff, are you guys becoming more confident or more concerned about Thursday night?

Here's why I'm confident:

• Their offensive line is average. I think we can pressure Allar all night.
• Their defensive strength - rushing the passer - is negated by the fact that, well, we don't pass the ball very well.
• They're a terrible tackling team. Something like the fifth worst in power 4 conferences, or something along those lines.

I think the teams will exchange a couple short drives to start, based on solid defenses and adrenaline, but I expect ND to eventually start asserting themselves and to break a couple big runs. I think PSU wears down at the end of the game from the Irish's athleticism and the fact that they didn't face anything on this competition level in their two previous playoff games.

Irish by 2 scores.

Confident. They like to run to the perimeter? We’re too fast to allow that to happen. They don’t have very good WRs? Awesome, Moore Island is already established and Gray can make a game changing play if picked on too often. They have two good RBs? Cool, we can shut their run game down and force them to pass. Drew Allar gets flustered with pressure. They have a stud tight end but unless they’re quarterbacked by THE Drew Pyne, that TE will be held in check.
