Allar as a runner - He's not speedy, but he's effective. Someone previously compared him to vintage Big Ben and that's a good comp. He is never going to be a run first QB, but if the secondary covers well he's capable of taking off and moving the chains if you don't contain him.

Really hoping our front 7 can get after him early and take away his will like we’ve done so often this year.

For those picking Penn State, the only metric I can find that even supports them winning is this ridiculously flimsy stat:

ND played 4 games this season on natural grass

PSU played 9 games this season on natural grass

The Orange Bowl has natural grass

We are DOOMED

I guess another reason is “James Franklin is 1-18 vs top 5 teams. Certainly he is due, RIGHT?”

One thing that I don't like about Allar as a QB is that he has bad touch. He is always rifling it. Both of his interceptions in the Big 10 championship had too much juice on them, and Minnesota he missed multiple easy completions due to it. I'm hoping this will lead to missed slants and balls going straight to X.

I don't know if I 100% agree. But one thing that stood out was how BIG Georiga's defense is. I think that is worse for our OL because 2 guys on the interior aren't meant for that life and we have a freshman LT
It’s hard to know for sure when considering opponents. I heard one of the guys on II pod say that PSU’s defense was “statistically” better than UGA’s defense. As a fan on the street, I can’t imagine PSU’s defense being better than Georgia’s defense. If they are, it’ll be tough sledding. That said, I’ve been wanting PSU all year so I’ll stick by my original opinion that ND at full strength smashes PSU. I still like their odds not at full strength.

I've watched a lot of their games. They are a good defense in the front 7 but the back end isn't very good. You neutralize 11 you can get after them for sure. They have been decent against the run but when the chips were on the table against OSU they ran it down their throats to ice the game

And 11 is questionable for the game (Abdul Carter).

Penn State’s defense is statistically better than Georgia’s….but if their schedules were flipped it wouldn’t be. And PSU wouldn’t be in the playoff.

I can't find anything but highlights on PSU. I know nothing about them other than Abdul is apparently Micah Parsons 2.0. I've maybe seen 2 full halves all season. Their defense looked awesome and their QB seemed like a cocktail DBag. I have no idea if either of those are true. Their offensive and defensive numbers look really good, but so so competition.

On paper, their defense is very good but keep in mind...

1) Before the playoffs, their best win was probably against 6-6 USC.

2) They have beat up on inferior teams Boise and SMU.

3) They only have one dude, Carter, who should draw attention and scare people.

4) Their DT's are listed at 290 and 305. ND Oline should have more fun than they did against Georgia's D line.
And that big U$C win was in OT. They played 2 solid teams all year (O$U and Oregon) and lost to both! Their HC is frickin' James Franklin ... nuff said!

Yeah Doesn’t sound like Carter is going to be near 100%. If he was, Franklin wouldn’t have answered that question like he did.

Is it really true they dont have to send injury reports to each other? I feel like, especially with gambling, those types of things would have to be public...

Schools don’t care about gambling.
