Been watching some extended game highlights the last few days. Just watched the Georgia tech game. I can see a similar plan to them TBH. I wasn't impressed with denbrock at the time and it still wasn't good rewatching the game but it is obvious Riley is much better in the pocket. What worries me more now though is the offensive lines inability to protect against movement across the DL. With the injuries across the OL I'm sure continuity makes it even more difficult to combat this since communication is going to be essential.Honestly I think best case scenario is a result similar to Texas A&M. Two TD in the first half on Georgia defense will feel like scoring 30 in the first half.

Riley Mills was an absolute problem for Georgia Tech too. Broke my heart to see him dominate the way he did in that game.

I think we can win but key is gonna be getting pressure in their QB to make stupid mistakes

i've got 4 tickets in section 644 which is marked as the "Georgia side" per seatgeek/stubhub. Does anyone know if tickets are actually allocated in that fashion? Should I expect primarily UGA fans on that side?

I’d expect a lot of handoffs, quick passes, and RPO’s where he can get out and run some or throw a quick pass. He’s more of a running QB so that’s another element the defense will have to deal with.

I don’t have an exact answer, but have been to over 20 bowl games, and every single one had a distinct separation between fan bases that was obvious, with a few tiny areas that were mismatched.

The good news is for the most part a bowl game prices out the typical unruly fan. It’s more a “we are on vacation, this is fun” crowd.

I was squarely in the Bama section at the BCSNCG, and we didn’t pay for a drink from the end of the first quarter until the end. They felt bad for us and were nice about the game.

Some more Georgia fans’ takes:

Still have about two week until we have to go but I’d figure let’s get some early predictions in anyway.

Obviously we have the defense to shut down the Irish. Their offense has never really impressed me their best games were against lackluster defenses.

They also don’t have any really great wins, their best win was the Aggies who finished 8-4 or Indiana who’s been blown out against the only two legitimate teams they’ve played. They almost feel like Texas with a worse QB since Riley isn’t on par with Ewers or maybe even Arch. If we can keep him contained on his runs we should be able to keep him in check like we did with Ewers both times.

As for our offense I have zero idea, the o-line is finally healthy and our backfield is healthy finally as well. But it all depends on how Gunner comes out, if he starts to look like a deer in headlights or the moment is too big, the Irish will just load the box all night and they have a solid run defense. Gunner doesn’t need to be a world beater just do enough to not make major mistakes and keep the secondary honest and keep them out of the box.

Going off right now I’ll say a down to the wire game with our run game giving the death blow with a long TD drive to seal the game.

Georgia 24
Notre Dame 16
ND looked slow and pedestrian to me. Looked like an easy win. But could also have been the freezing weather that made them look like that. Gunner is a baller but has made questionable throws downfield. I think he is very Fromm like where he will be a game manager but make some runs. I don’t think as of now he is the qb for the future. Would love to be wrong.
It’s could be a really tough game. I think both of UGA’s lines of scrimmage destroy ND. Watching them last night I could not believe how small they were. It all comes down to the game plan, putting Gunner in the best position to make plays, and him making those plays! If he plays well with no turnovers it could easily be 27-10 Dawgs.
Kirby is going to call heavily on the Oline to get this run game going and grind that defense into the ground!!

I love the fact that Kirby was on gameday last night and the ND fans were chanting “ We want Georgia!!”
ND was able to commit to the run and get pressure on Indianas QB while getting good coverage on the receivers. We have a bigger and more talented O line and better RBs. They are going to try the same against us. If we can get 3/4 yards on first down, things will open up for us.

Our defense is significantly bigger, deeper and more athletic than Indiana’s. ND’s QB will be able to scramble but not as effectively as he did against Indiana. Our defense will be ready for them. Our offense just needs to get some drives going and wear them down.
As Kirby likes to say ... the game is won in the trenches. I think our Dline handles them and causes issues in the run game and pass protection. I think our offense, with a healthy Oline and Ettiene back, builds a strong running game opening up some play action or rpo opportunities for Stockton. I think we win by 2 scores. 24-10 or something like that.

It’s hard to disagree with a lot of that. I think the first prediction is pretty close to accurate. I’ve got ND winning 20-16. I think Al Golden ends up being the difference in the game.

I feel like it's inconsistent. Sometimes they split the tickets by sideline, other times by endzone.

Their Dline is very undersized. Hoping we can handle them better than we did against Tech’s.
Could be a blowout for UGA, could be a nailbiter in UGA's favor. Dawgs will win this game because of coaching and the fact we've been thoroughly tested throughout the season.

I don't see ND scoring more than 14. We may have 5 FGs and win.
ND is not that good of a team, with multiple weeks to prepare Kirby is scary. Also Stockton taking first team reps, and us getting healthy, this will be a big win.

UGA-38
ND-17
My only hesitation here is that IF (Ajd I know it’s a big if) ND knew they could handle IU running standard schemes, they could be willing to use Leonard as a battering ram like Tech did with Haynes King. Only thing is ND doesn’t run as many motions and eye candy and ball handling as Tech does, and I don’t think you can implement that in just a couple weeks. We might see more run scheme variety but I don’t think they can scheme us up the way Tech did based on how they normally play. I hope this made sense. lol.
Not impressed with their run defense..
No prediction yet, but I think the vibe is great. Dawgs got a breather, a fresh QB that the team loves, and the rat poison is at a minimum.

Increasingly excited for Wednesday.
ND is much faster and more talented than they were in the early-mid 2010s. I expect this game to be a war, very similar to when they came to Athens in 2019.
Notre Dame looked good against Indiana but just so hard to gauge since Indiana seems like such a soft team. Their run game and running back are good but schematically I don't see them doing stuff like Tech or Ole Miss did to us. Our D has to play well of course. It could be a breakout game for Gunner or then again he could really struggle.
I don’t think Riley Leonard can beat us with his arm. Shut down the run and make him throw. That’s classic CKS.
On obvious passing downs, Marcus Freeman will have "get the ball out quick" plays by the dozen, in anticipation of our defensive ability to create havoc in the backfield.

Marcus Freeman is an underrated coach.
People are blowing him and ND up to be better than they are.

They are still a good team, but they are not some juggernaut like a lot of fans and media think.
Going to be a war. Let, no one think for a moment that this is like the overrated ND of the early 2000s
Eh, their DLine is depleted and our run game will pop off with a healthy ETN and Frazier

Followed up with a sprinkle of Gunner runs

Lots of confidence and cockiness sprinkled
in with some rational takes. It largely seems apparent that they think they’ll hold ND to 14 or less and just ram it away at ND. Georgia is undoubtedly the most tested team in the Playoffs (Clemson, Texas (x2), Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss), but they’re certainly beatable.

I really think Denbrock schematically draws up some big plays … it’s up to the players to execute and make those plays.

There is nothing egregious in there. Overall, I think Dawg fans will be surprised by the team speed of the Irish. If they think Etienne is fast wait until they see Love. Also, LB sideline to sideline speed and secondary flying to the ball to support the run.

Not really, but a few brazen predictions are
peppered in there. That said, if my team was going into a Playoff game with a Sophmore making his first start — against Freeman (a defensive coach) and Golden — I’d be a little more hesitant. It’s apparent they don’t respect Leonard and the ND offense and expect to shut them down more or less.

That's all normal fan stuff though. Before big matchups, fans tend to minimize their team's flaws and magnify the opponent's.

Yeah. I mean, we do the same here all the time. Nice to see a few people there acknowledge that we're better than we were 10 years ago. And, without Mills, we ARE small on the D Line. They're not wrong!

To me, this comes down to our ability to A: Run the ball effectively, and B: Get pressure on their QB and force him into mistakes. If we can do those things, we win. If we can't, they win.

My UGA buddies have the same vibe as we did against IU. They truly believe ND gets murdered at the LOS on both sides, and it's just gonna be to hard for ND to execute.

This game feels very 27-17 Georgia to me, and that may be with ND playing well. Georgia stopped Texas running game and lived in the backfield on passes. They're also expecting to add Christian Miller to the DL who was out sec game. Gunner doesn't have to be good even great for them to win, he could throw for 160 and that be plenty if they don't turn ball over. So to me, ND can play well and still lose by 2 scores. I don't think the reverse is true, if Georgia plays well they can't lose. There's a very real chance they bully our small DL.

So what's the upshot? Riley Leonard and Mike Denbrock. Riley wants to be the man in the arena, this is what you came here for. Outperform every expectation as a passer in this game, and be yourself as a runner. We have talent at WR, more than I think we realize, and we're perfectly healthy at WR and TE. We've speculated that Denbrock has held back, well, let's see it. If ND can get up on Georgia early, this game could get very uncomfortable for Georgia.

ND has to get up early IMO and keep the momentum. That's when Georgia will press, Gunner will feel the need to shine, and this defense can feast if GA is on its heals. In this case Gunner is going to feel the pressure. It'll be taken for granted the loss of Beck in this case, who's had a million snaps, pre snap reads, lining up offense, etc. I have no idea what I'd going to happen and I expect a healthy, rested Georgia team to win fairly easily. But there's no reason at all Leonard can't make his name known in this game on the back of a finally brilliant Denbrock game.

30-13 and 34-13 if we can't get pressure or block for Love and RL

From what I’ve listened/read from UGA fans & beat writers, they seem to think UGA will just run it down ND’s throat w/ Etienne. Other than Beck & the punter, they have gotten healthy & rested. They expect their stud DL back for this game. Their LB corps may be the best ND will have faced. They have zero respect for RL as QB1 so he’ll need to make some clutch throws & beat UGA with his legs enough to earn their D’s respect. I think folks underestimate what having almost an entire month off can do for a team physically & schematically.

Is Howard Cross healthy enough to make an impact?
Can the OL open enough of a hole for Love to slip through?
Can RL break loose (it’s been awhile since we’ve seen that)?
Can Golden scheme around the loss of Mills & account for the huge size discrepancy of UGA OL vs ND DL?
KVA & Rocco are “questionable”. Can they be effective or are they still on the mend & possibly available for subsequent rounds should ND win?
Does Jeter have his mix right (headspace & physical ailments)?

I think this game is entirely dependent on Armel Mukam and Sevillano.

If there was any shot for Onye to return…like any…man that would be a huge boost.
