Is Kelly a REALLY good coach?

2012 was only season that was really great and thats looking more and more like a fluke. My oponion is give BK next year to make the playoffs and if he doesnt fire him. Otherwise we are essentially saying we are happy with the football program opretaing like Brey with the basketball program. IMo BK has so many advantages over Brey that he should be held to a much higher standard. This has been an embarassing football season. Either make the playoffs next year with a more experienced defense and a favorable schedule or fire bk and unfortunately tome to start from scratch

Yea, just finish in the top 4. Should be easy, amiRITE. I mean, I can probably rattle off 10 or 20 coaches who can do that in any given year.

This ND job is much different then any other. It takes a really strong coach. I think BK will be there soon...not this year.

If I was the CEO of ND football BVG would be gone. Why he was the best guy we could get was beyond me. He hasn't been able to keep a job in years...I don't care about is "stache" ND's D is fcuking garbage.

BVG has a good resume actually. As a DC/Defensive coach, he's been downright dominant. At Georgia, he fielded some straight up nasty defenses, and that held true until he left. The only real black mark on his resume is Auburn, but that was in no way his fault, as the team had already quit on Chizik. I'm not saying BVG has been good, especially in the last few weeks, but he's playing with a losing hand.

He has Josh Rosen or Woulard a QB from Florida that won the elite 11 competition. I agree on the scholarship thing with SC but his team is tough.

I don't agree that we fire him if they don't finish in the top 4, but if they are not at 10 wins, then that's when you start looking at replacements. No excuse to not win 10 games with the roster loaded up next season.

I still think Golson is a gamer, and probably much better then MZ. I think the year removed from the game has really hurt him. Last year was probably the first season he missed since he was 8

I understand the youth/injures we've had....I understand BVG did great at Georgia....I get that his defense's can be complicated at times...I get that his defense's live for the pressure and will give up big plays from time to time.... But we gotta get our stuff together for 2015.... Next year we are friggin' loaded with talent and playmakers and depth.... I watch the games and I just don't see the progression of our kids....I see the same silliness, the same missed tackles, blown coverages, and bad reads....

As for BK..... He is a very good coach.... The man has won everywhere he's been.... Does he do things that make you scratch your head? Hell yeah...but all coaches do things like that....There are 2 things with BK that bother me... 1.) If Golson is playing terrible, he needs to pull him.... Letting EG stay out there when he is hurting the team with his poor play can be very frustrating.... 2.) I have never felt that BK has been in love with ND or our traditions.... ND is the pinnacle of a coaching career; not a stepping stone to the NFL or a lateral transfer to another university.... The whole Eagles interview and his silence about it, to me, hasn't been forgotten, nor forgiven.... I understand why he had to interview...I just don't think you use ND like that....I want a coach that sees ND as a final destination; not a middle point of a career.... I want a coach who has love for ND in their heart; not love of ND's money and exposure....I feel like BK is the guy who knew he deserved a big break and a job at a big program...and ND was the place that came calling....Had Florida come calling, he would have gone there; same with if USC would have come calling....He has no allegiance or loyalty or true love for ND; and his ability to interview for the Eagles job proved that....

When the 49er's come calling for an interview, I expect him to listen....I guess I would want my coach...a coach who sees ND like I think they shld, to say, thanks, but no thanks...I have the best job I could ever have.....He doesn't do that....what happens when Florida calls? What happens when the Bears call or the Dolphins get in his agent's ear? How loyal and how much love will he have for ND then? 2015 could be a very special year....I can honestly see him seeing that too....I can honestly see him using 2015 to his advantage and thinking 2015 is his best shot to win a Nat'l Championship and parlaying our success in 2015 to his dream gig of a fat NFL paycheck....just my two cents......but yes...he is a very good coach...and I'm glad he is ours....for now....

His third string MLB came in, today, and tore it up. The D Line has been decimated by injury, and is still making a decent showing of it. Certainly you don't expect him to have All American caliber players all along his bench?

The guy is perfect, for combo of coaching and recruiting abilities, effort, and ND values.

I am certain the administration thinks the same thing.

Not once has he complained about losing the suspended players, and he barely even mentions all of the key injuries on defense, going back to summer camp.

My prediction: next year all of the key injuries are on offense.

Oh well.

(Why did he call the second timeout right away though, with 1+ minute left, potentially giving Louisville time to get a game-winning field goal?)
