Who is still injured, and who can we get back by January? I heard Daniels may/should be back by the bowl game, anyone heard different? Is there a chance we get Collinsworth or someone else back that could at least add some depth?

Anyone know the status of Zach Martin? He went down on our last offensive drive.

No major injuries from last night. Martin will be fine.

Collingsworth isn't going to play. He will play a full one next year.

D Daniels will be back for the game too.

Calabrese looked ok at the end to me. Martin and Kap both went back in the game. Daniels is expected to be back. As far as I can tell, we should be fully healthy going into the game.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect them to put Collinsworth or any of the other players in unless there was a major injury in the game, thats just my concern though. We're so thin in the secondary it would be nice for the big game to know that we have some people back if it was absolutely necessary. I mean...how cool would it be if a guy ended up getting injured and Slaughter ended up being okay to go and helped us win? I assume Slaughter can't come back next year.

I'm assuming we want to redshirt Collinsworth at this point. No use in burning a full year of eligibility. Unless, as you say, it becomes absolutely necessary in the NCG.

Collinsworth played in all 13 games as freshman and again as a soph. So he's already used 2 of his 4 years of PT on the 5 year clock. Playing in the NCG would burn a 3rd year. and make '13 his last season.

I would assume that the NCG would be an exception where you would burn one if absolutely necessary. If Motta went down, would you put in someone with no experience?

A guy like Baratti who has gotten reps everyday for the past few months and has played in every game is the better choice then Collinsworth at this point. He hasn't played in months and would be in the way more then he would be helpful.

Next season he will be greatly needed and will do quite well IMO.

Yes sir, he was in line to be Farley before the season started I believe anyway, so he was already doing well. He was going to rotate in as the third safety, but then he got hurt and Slaughter went down as well.

It's really amazing to see the job the defensive coaches have done when you consider that the safety position went from a rotation of 2 SRs and 1 JR to 1 SR 1 SO and 1 FR and almost hasn't missed a beat. And that's not even taking into account the job Russell and Shumate are doing at corner.

Or would you play one of the guys that's practiced and played all season in that role?

Isn't Baratti next man in?

I like Collinsworth but he's not Bobby Taylor nor Jeff Burris. He's never started at S, has he? He strikes me as more notable as a ST player than backup safety in '10 and '11. Has he been practicing?

I burn a year in a heartbeat if he could ride a gunner off the play on punt returns. That would be a something we haven't had in the Kelly era. Unfortunately he'd probably have to take out two or three opponents each play to make it more.

Yeah, you definitely want to redshift Collinsworth this year. He showed pretty good promise in our defensive backfield. Certainly want him for two more years.

Yeah, Zach got up and walked it up. He looked fine from what I saw.

His impact on special teams is absolutely huge. In 2011 he was by far our best tackler on STs.

Yeah, I agree with Grahambo and BGIF ... absolutely no chance Collinsworth plays. Baratti and Salvi will be fine as backups. Even Shumate would probably play at safety before we burn a whole year of eligibility for Collinsworth. You can't waste your werewolves' eligibility like that. ha.
