Since you mentioned, IIRC, that you played college football, I assume you grew up male and appeared male. If genuinely genetically intersex, which bathroom you use becomes more complicated, but if you appear anything like a college football player, you can understand why many women and parents of daughters would be very uncomfortable with you in the women's bathroom.

The courtesy and respect go both ways, though. You want others to respect your reality. We want the same from you. A man pretending to be a woman or someone who certainly appears to be a man pretending to be a woman forcing their way into women's bathrooms and women's sports disrespects others' feelings and reality. I don't want anyone to be abused or mistreated, but you can't give everyone what they want at the same time. Your wants and needs conflict with others' wants and needs sometimes. A transsexual person or a transvestite or such certainly has a right to use the bathroom. I did grow up male and played college football. I still had hormonal issues and was a late bloomer puberty wise that was never diagnosed. I only get tested recently and out of curiosity. It's almost like the issue isn't super straightforward.

Having trans people use a public bathroom as it is intended does not violate anyone's privacy or put anyone at greater risk. It's simple fear mongering similar to what we saw during the civil rights and with whites only bathrooms. It's used to make people believe all trans people are perverts, predators, or pedophiles. And you perpetuating that puts people like me at greater risk.
