Who’s going to do all the shit? Clearly we need to open the door wide open to criminals from all over the world and fly them in the tax payers dime and put them in hotels.

Didn't Trump already backtrack and say they need to make exceptions? Seems like Trump agrees with Hunter.

Same argument dems were making 165 years ago about not freeing the slaves and "Who'll pick the cotton?"

Some exceptions and 300k in a month plus flights and hotels are not that similar.
You have to do mass raids at job sites and immigration offices to stop paying for hotel rooms?

Republicans don’t care about illegal immigration. If they did they would go after the businesses that hire illegals. That would actually solve the “problem”. They won’t because they know it’s deeply unpopular and bad for the economy.

Funny how Dems feel entitled to a subservient under class to do all the icky things they won't do for themselves.

What if the deportation push forces Americans to get their hands dirty and take care of their own shit.

Also - if the methods are so terrible, self deport and avoid the goon squads. Decades of failing to TCB coming home to roost - anyone expecting it to be peaches and sunshine is not a serious person.

Why are businesses at fault? Shouldn't they be able to operate under the assumption people applying are legally in the country? Government refuses to do its job so businesses should do it for them?

Just seems more efficient and more "bang for you buck" rounding up illegals at a work site than just arresting them here and there.

Go after the businesses as well, but it won't be as effective. My wife worked for a company that hired a lot of Hispanics. When hired, it wasn't uncommon that they would present fake ID that looked like the real thing.

Because it's a federal crime? Guess we can pick and choose which laws we want to enforce after all.

Let's keep this ID argument in mind next time voting rights comes up.

More of a crime to hire someone than it is be here illegally. Makes total sense. How about businesses getting a bounty for rounding up illegals - they should be encouraged to help enforce our laws rather than punished for being lied to by their employees.

Employers are required by law to verify ID at risk of penalty for failure to comply. If it is so important for a guy hiring a dishwasher then maybe it isn't such a really that much of a burden for voters either. Or is your argument that Voter ID isn't worth it unless it is infallible?

The government has has the ability to punish its own citizens, yes. Unless you're suggesting illegals be kept here in prison instead of being deported? They don't know that the employees they're paying under the table below minimum wage are illegal?

The point is that the right loves banging on about how we need voter ID to solve the very real very important issue of voter security, but suddenly when it's suggested the IDs be used for businesses to stop hiring illegals they are unreliable and easily faked.

You guys can't square the MAGA immigration stance with the GOPs lack of action to actually stop illegal immigration to begin with. It's all talk, obviously. The second deportations started effecting agriculture Trump caved.

This isn't an all or nothing. Not everyone has a fake ID. I imagine the number is fairly low. I would prefer to have ID in order to vote and end up with a small amount of illegal votes then not require an ID. The excuses of it being difficult to get an ID are weak. If a person really wants to vote, they'll find a way to get the ID. It may require them to put in some effort, but that's better than just letting someone vote without verification.

GOP sucks and was never serious about immigration or voter ID- they were nothing but foils. This is why you get MAGA. When limp dick Rs never address issues important to large swaths of their voter base and independents you open yourself to a rise of Tea Party or MAGA. Traditional Republicans are only interested in holding onto their power and influence, not solving any real problems.

The majority is apathetic and disengaged for a reason.
