Zeppelin albums >>>> Stones albums all day.

Yep

Stairway to Heaven has always been considered one of the greatest if not the greatest rock song of all time. Back when it was released, people were amazed at how long the song was. Compared to today's songs, it's average.

Well... in the end this whole voting was a farce because the greatest Classic rock band ever wasnt even nominated.....

I think we can all get behind their greatness when they receive such blatantly ignorant reviews like this:

No sir, it is ABBA.

It never makes any top 10 Zep song lists, but The Rain Song is actually my favorite Zep song.

Absolutely awesome song! Just beautiful, complex, moving guitar work. One of my top five favorite rock songs ever.

Interesting note many may not know about this song (quoted from Wikipedia, but I've seen this story on multiple sites):

George Harrison was reportedly the inspiration for "The Rain Song" when he made a comment to Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, about the fact that the group never wrote any ballads. In Light and Shade: Conversations with Jimmy Page, biographer Brad Tolinski quotes Page:

George [Harrison] was talking to Bonzo one evening and said, 'The problem with you guys is that you never do ballads.' I said, 'I'll give him a ballad,' and I wrote 'Rain Song,' which appears on Houses of the Holy. In fact, you'll notice I even quote 'Something' in the song's first two chords. — Jimmy Page

I'm glad you can now see that Led Zeppelin gets more play than any other band on Classic Rock stations.

Haha. Wiz just made your case for you. I seriously think wiz does not even read the shit he posts. Plus I posted those artlics like a month ago making the case that classic rock is a radio format and not a genre which appears to have been mostly ignored. By everyone.

In honor of this thread, I listened to a whole bunch of LZ songs that wiz has never heard of on my home from work.

I've taken into account that fact, but even if it isn't a traditional genre, Classic Rock is a thing and is loosely defined by that radio format. You see people debate it and who the great artists are, just as we have here. So, even if it's not a traditional genre, it's still open to discussion.

Ahh thanks bud!

Edit: Does the Zeppelin plagiarism leave a bad taste in anyone else's mouth?

Welcome
No. If this were the greatest writer thread, or most honorable band thread... but it isn't. It sounded great, and better than those originals in most cases. Courts can settle that crap.
