AND THEIR SHITTY REFERRES!!

I've come to believe they are tanking on us on purpose, because we won't join their crappy league. Fuck em, lets just stop scheduling Big Ten teams.

I'm just repeating what NBC said, I would imagine it's a Big East crew. I'm trying to see if I can see a logo on the zebras.

Getting F'd

Getting F'd

We have been getting F'd on all replays. Every time we score my hole puckers waiting for a late flag or a replay review. Just glad this time it didn't help the other team enough to win. We showed we can win through adversity....FINALLY!

When is the NCAA or BIG 11 going to do something about their refs. They have been bad for the last couple years. The past two weeks they have been just terrible. How was Floyd not a TD, there was no reason given. The call out of bounds on Blanton was wrong. When the same thing happened to us, they kept the flag up the asses. They are not only terrible, but inconsistent. Guess what we get them again next week!

Someone please help me out here. When did we start letting the opponents use their conference refs. At one time didn't ND use neutral refs for these games. I know we do not belong to a conference, but I can remember the late 70's and 80's games were the refs weren't affiliated with either team. I am not sure if the few Independent team left have specific crews that they use anymore, but these past two weeks have been killer. The refs have cost us 4 points in each game, and in the case of Michigan they game.

Agree. The team was rolling until the referees made their presence felt in the second quarter. What bullshit

They should have given Floyd that TD. Possession and 2 feet in. what happens out of bounds is inconsequential.

totally agree with this thread, when is he ncaa going to step in and do something?? it is so blatant. the officials should not decide the game, they did last week and tried to do it this week.

Neither the NCAA nor any conference will do anything about it. If ND was in a conference and their refs could take retribution in a future game there can be an understanding. As an independent you have no big stick to carry.

As long as I can remember conference refs have been a problem. Michigan no doubt supplied the refs when the "taught" ND how to play the game back in 1887. They probably broke off the series in 1909 when ND wanted to alternate refs (that and ND started winning). It was a problem in Rockne's era.

ND lost a National Championship and an undefeated season in 1964 in the Los Angeles Coliseum on phantom calls.

In the early Holtz years I believe ND used MAC crews but there was controversy in a number of games. I vaguely remember the rationale was "If we're gonna get screwed at least let's not get in the back from a supposedly neutral 3rd party. Let's go into the game knowing the refs are adversaries. I thought Lou instigated the change. The actual terms of the contracts are negotiated by the AD but not in a vacuum. Today it would be Swarbrick's job to work out the details.

Through the years split crews have been used with unsatisfactory results. I assume the Big East Ref in the Replay Booth was supposed to be a failsafe measure. And he chose not to overturn a touchdown much to the dismay of Pat Haden. A lot of ND fans don't like Haden cause he was a USC QB. He is knowledgeable about football and he's a talented lawyer. By agreement between NBC and ND the NBC announcers are supposed to be "neutral". Many ND fans object that they go to far the other way being "neutral". In all the years I've heard Haden call games I don't ever recall him objecting so strongly - ro the point of going to the replay booth to ask why. Have you ever heard an announcer do that? I didn't think he was buying the Big East officials explanation either.

For the first time in my 54 years - I wish we would drop UM from the schedule. They will not play without Big 10 refs - has to mean something. Even in our house. I'd say fine. It's a home and home. We should be able to find someone else. Miami would regain signifigance if we put them back on. We give UM respectability... we don't owe them.

I'm not sure - being at the game and not watching on TV - the early Floyd TD and the Tate swan dive TD - looked on ESPN to be so clearly inbounds - why were they reviewed? On challenge, or was it a call from upstairs?

I was at the game, pissed off for not DVR'ing the game. I can't wait to watch the replay on TV or online to see all these bs calls.

And can someone clear it up for me since I never saw replays:

1) did the onside kick really go 10 yards??

2) That drive where the refs callled ND for like a personal foul every play and MSU scored, were those calls BS?

and how did they not get the late hit on clausen. Charlie was a good 5 yards on the field freaking out

Yes the on-side went ten (mayber even 11) and then rolled back. Not a good play for the Irish, but heck you all have to agree it was a great call and it worked out great for MSU. I wish Charlie would do something like that once in a while.

Not saying the ref's were right or wrong, but the replay booth is/was a Big East Official.

Charlie challeneged a call I believe the Floyd TD and Dantonio challenged a play probably Tate but I'm not sure.

The 1st TD pass - the one to Floyd - He grabs it, takes three steps before going OB in endzone and it's under review - WTF!!!!!

LOL he took two steps. Don't exagerate. That play was ruled out of bounds on the field. Charlie challenged it and lost. Apparently having possession, taking two steps and falling out of bounds is considered not having control of the ball. There was not enough evidence to overturn it they said. He did not have pssoesion the whole way through or some bs like that was the reason

He's talking about the FIRST TD pass, not the 2nd. Floyd caught another perfectly thrown ball form JC and he caught it in the corner of the endzone and got 3 feet in just in case the scouts were watching...

******** The first one on Robert Blanton was horseshit IMO. He hit the QB inbounds, finished the tackle at his ankles out of bounds and got flagged. BS. Haayseed's though, was legit. He hit the dude late. He likes to do that once a year I guess and lose us a game. However, we won this time,

and how did they not get the late hit on clausen. Charlie was a good 5 yards on the field freaking out

******** Another bs non-call.

AGREED...I never thought I would get there but its the shit that happens in the booth that makes me think that way...the guys on the field seem typical...the stuff they are overturning from the booth is ludicrous...are the replay guys indeed Big 10?

IT IS GETTING TO THE POINT OF BEING AN ISSUE WITH THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME. ANYONE CAN SEE THAT AND THE REFS ARE BEING USED TO CHANGE MOMENTUM. THE LATE HIT PLAYS TELL IT ALL, EITHER EQUAL CALLS OR NONE AT ALL. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO ASK FOR THIS, IT SHOULD GO WITHOUT SAYING THAT THE NCAA CORRECTS IT. CHANGE IT OR DONT PLAY 'EM. NOTRE DAME DOESNT NEED THE 'little 11'. FILL IN WITH TULSA, TCU, ALA, VA TECH OR ANY TEAM WITH AN AGENDA OF WINNING A GAME IN A CLEAN COMPETITION. NOW YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN BY THE 'FEAR' NOTRE DAME CAUSES, THEY SEE THE TRAIN STARTING TO ROLL AND WANT IT STOPPED. THIS IS JUST A GOOD TEAM RIGHT NOW THEY DONT WANT IT TO BE A GREAT TEAM. THEY CANT RECRUIT AGAINST NOTRE DAME WHEN THE IRISH ARE HOT. THAT IS THE PROBLEM WHAT WE ARE SEEING ARE THE SYMTOMS.
