I have actually shrunk as I get older. In college I was just a hair under 6'6". Last physical I had, I just crested 6'5".

I am going a little heavy these days - 255lbs a couple weeks ago, but I weighed in at 243 today, so I am happy. Being hungry all the time and sacrificing watching TV for working out is paying off!

As a "bookend," at 5'7" I was the one in my family asked to "get that (whatever) from the top shelf." That I needed a step stool rather than a step ladder was a non-issue.

Funny ... I seem to get skinnier when posting on IE. I guess the trick is to raid the liquor cabinet and not the 'fridge.

Do you have tall arches? Outside of an odd growth horomone spike, I wonder if you've lost some of the arch in your feet causing them to grow in length?


As for me: 5'9", 175, eunuch (but pre-cut, I was long as a spider)

When my 20 year old daughter was about a year and a half, we were in Atlanta having lunch at a great Italian restaurant. Just a couple addresses down the street they were opening a Planet Hollywood across from the Hard Rock, on the corner.

When we came out, there was a mad crowd. It parted, so I made time with my daughter on my shoulders. I though this was great, she was ready to get back for a nap, etc. Well as we walked, I noticed a limousine and a few people. Sly was there to promote the opening, and there he and I, with my daughter on my shoulders, were standing face to face. I saw his blank stare, so I thought I would have some fun. I didn't move. At first he didn't either then someone grabbed him under the arm and whisked him around us.

When he stood across from me I couldn't believe it! He was tiny. Not just three inches shorter than me. I mean he was tiny! Like a twenty eight inch waist, etc. And even then he had wrinkles. I know this happens with actresses. But I also think movies and TV give you the idea that people are bigger and more "built" than they are.

The actor that played the 'defense counsel' in Hart's War starring Bruce Willis, was a former boss of mine's son. My former boss was 6'4" tall. I didn't see his son after he was about 19 because he left and went to NY and then Hollywood. After I saw the movie, I asked if Sammy had a late growth spurt and ended up as tall as his dad, and he replied that no he ended up about my height, 5'11". I expressed my surprise, and my former boss said, he understood and I wouldn't believe how small some of these guys were. He had stories.

As Sir dshans hinted, gaining 40 lbs,. can equate to an additional half to inch of height.

I always thought the walk-on's at ND were ridiculously short. I cant remember when i visited ND the one time but is the student body as a whole full of short people like this???
