Where do you guys think Ellsbury ends up?

Ellsbury can come play for my Tigers if he wants. I already got what I wanted though so I shouldn't be so greedy. Still can't believe we got somebody to take the Fielder contract off our hands.

Yankees sign McCann!!!
This is actually a good signing. It solidifies a position of weakness for a reasonable price for the Yankees. Won't be too damaging to McCann's knees either as he can DH from time to time.

A few things have to fall right for this to happen but very realistic chance that Yankees lineup next year is:

Gardner
Cano
Texeira
Arod
Soriano
McCann
Beltran
Jeter
DH

That's the best lineup in the league IMO if healthy

The only negative that I just thought of is that this could point to the Cards not being confident in getting Beltran back. They already had Tavares for CF but now I foresee:

C Molina
1B Craig OR Adams
2B Wong
3B Carpenter
SS TBD - Someone big via a trade
LF: Holliday
CF: Bourjos OR Tavares
RF: Tavares OR Craig

Craig in RF with Adams at 1B (and possibly Tavares in CF instead of Bourjos) or Craig in 1B with Tavares in RF

Looks like your shortstop will be Peralta.

Yup. On one hand I wanted better than Peralta on the other hand I'm glad we don't have to give up any of our young pitching.

That is why Mo is one of the best GMs in the business...and we also KEPT our 1st Rd pick.

This means 1 of 3 things:

1. Cano wants too much and the Yankees said F it.
2. Yankees have it on good authority that Arod will be suspended.
3. Yankees said F it and decided to spend as much as it takes to win a championship.

Value of deal will come down to whether he is healthy long-term. Plain and simple.

Meh he's a hired gun.

Always kinda took him as a mercenary.

Injury prone, loved jacoby but I don't love him a Carl Crawford+ amount

Jackie Bradley jr come on down.

This injury prone guy is going to be getting paid $22 mil when he's 37. Ok. I'd pass too if I was Boston. Great to see him get a deal or whatever, but it's just too much.

Getting paid. Sox weren't going to give it to him, and I'm glad they aren't doing those deals anymore.

Curiously, did the Sox offer amount make it public? It's usually a good sign of a guy's real value, what his current team is willing to pay him, absent some glut in the minors in the guy's position.

Second, what was your sense of Ellsbury as a player: a) really good but injury prone so not worth the money; b) didn't quite pan out skills/talent wise based on early reports/expectations, but filled a role; c) something else?

Generally, I think teams are wise to avoid deals longer than three or four years.

Wow just saw the Jacoby deal. Does this mean that the Yankees are out of the running for Cano?
