I cannot access the site at work here, but I had heard something along these lines before, except that what I heard was that MSU had one snap at ND's 48 in the second half. I do not know either way and only bring it up hoping to be dis-proven.

"Michigan State only ran one play in the second half across midfield, and a penalty knocked the Spartans back on that drive."

Nice catch. They did cross the 50 in the second half, but didn't finish the drive there. That's a heck of an effort.

Five things we learned: Notre Dame 20, Michigan State 3 | Inside the Irish

Through three games, the Irish defense is on a pretty historic pace.

It’s hard to pick a stat that properly qualifies how dominant the Irish defense has been these first three games, but the 30 points the Irish have surrendered in the first quarter of the season is the least since 1988, when the eventual national champions gave up 27 points over the season’s first three games.

Ill say this over and over. Notre Dame has one of the best front sevens in the country. This stat helps with that.

We are in good shape. If we hold denard in check and dont let him snape off any long runs i really believe we win by more than a touchdown

I'd say that we're on the second tier of defenses in the nation. There's Bama and LSU, and then everyone else. We're getting there, but I don't think we're fully there.

I'm not saying that I disagree with you, but didn't you not watch the game because of a camping trip? How would you know, one way or the other?

The TD let up against Navy was in garbage time with backups. The second TD given up to Purdue was setup by the Goldson fumble within ND's 20 yard line. Just think about that.

The one where they burned through the secondary with three straight passes? I'm pretty sure we still had the starters in. The touchdown pass was between Russell and Slaughter if I remember correctly.

Good point on the Purdue one though. This D makes you earn it. We haven't seen many (any) sustained drives for touchdowns against us.
