Did Eddie George do a whole lot in the NFL? I am kind of young and didn't really follow the NFL until a couple of years ago. I still think Ricky Williams is a bust though. He produced more problems than he solved in my opinion.

Don't follow NFL much myself, but I think he is a super bowler. What I know from anecdotal evidence from when my friends talk is that he was very good until his body gave out.

edit: Just read through the discussion. That being said, who said Heisman voters should only vote for those with NFL success? Heisman is a college level award. Not a NFL award. It is awarded to the best player in college football, and NFL success must not have any relevance to the Heisman discussion.

Charlie Ward comes to mind.

Didn't Chris Weinke win the Heisman too? He was like 65 years old when he graduated college (or 27)

Besides, the Heisman is a JOKE. How many Heisman winners have gone on to NFL success?

Ron Dayne? Bust.
Eric Crouch? Massive bust.
Jason White? Bust.
Matt Lienart? EPIC FAIL.
Reggie Bush? Overrated.
Tim Tebow? Destined for failure.

Pretty selective list C2F. Here is my selective list of those who did not bust or fail in the NFL.

1968 O.J. Simpson USC RB Sr.
1970 Jim Plunkett Stanford QB Sr.
1976 Tony Dorsett Pittsburgh RB Sr.
1977 Earl Campbell Texas RB Sr.
1978 Billy Sims Oklahoma RB Jr.
1981 Marcus Allen USC RB Sr.
1982 Herschel Walker Georgia RB Jr.
1984 Doug Flutie Boston College QB Sr.
1985 Bo Jackson Auburn RB Sr.
1986 Vinny Testaverde Miami (Fla) QB Sr.
1987 Tim Brown Notre Dame WR Sr.
1988 Barry Sanders Oklahoma State RB Jr.
1991 Desmond Howard Michigan WR Jr.
1995 Eddie George Ohio State RB Sr.
1997 Charles Woodson Michigan CB Jr.
1998 Ricky Williams Texas RB Sr.
2002 Carson Palmer USC QB Sr.

Vinny Testaverde was a journeyman. Desmond Howard? CHARLES WOODSON? Woodson has made something like one Pro Bowl in his ten or eleven years in the pros. Carson Palmer is a very average quarterback.

However, I do see your point. Most of the players on that list did go on to NFL success.

Revised statement: Most recent Heismans have seen no success.

I still believe this:

Tommy Rees for Heisman, 2013!

I'm the first to jump on his bandwagon.

Damn you reallty do hate Michigan. Charles Woodson was one of the premier cornerbacks and an all-pro several times.

I stand corrected. Woodson is a five time Pro Bowler. He went a long time without making the Pro Bowl, from 2002-2008, so that is probably why I doubted his abilities.

Woodson robbed the Heisman from the true winner, Peyton Manning. I do give him credit for being an outstanding corner with probably the greatest interception of all time.

Here's some brilliant things said about Jimmy recently by brilliant USC fans on their board:

look, jimmy got nuthin and hes quickly runnin outta time...i think he should jump after this year before whatever is left of his high school reputation disappears

pencil neck jimbos 4th year wont be better than the aforementioned players (Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford) first years... his brothers stunck it up at tennessee and he is no better.... nd fans are hyped up after a long awaited bowl win against a hapless hawaii team which was in no way indicative of jimmys level of talent at this point.. he was up against a nothing defense against whom anyone could shine... just look at his stats during the season with that rediculous interception/ td ratio and thats all yu need to know about jimbo...jimbo to date is the biggest overhyped bust ever to play college football

Matt Barkley is already a million times better than Jimmy!

And that's just a taste of what I deal with down here.

Reason #1,897,646 why I HATE southern cal u...

Or if you live in Michigan it is pretty sickening, everyone came to school on Monday "praising" Tate Forcier, while whenever I bring up Jimmy's stats, they just talk about how Tate Forcier is better than Jimmy was as a freshman (which is definitely an unfair comparison comparing our lack of running game and o-line at the time).

Haha, I've lived in Michigan my whole life, grew up 20 minutes away from ND and then moved further inland for college, it sucked.

Some of the players not mentioned as a bust:

Danny Wuerfel 1996
Pat Sullivan 1971
Archie Griffin 1974 & 1975
Rashaan Salaam 1994
Ty Detmer 1990
Andre Ware 1989
Gino Torretta 1992
Mike Rozier 1993
Ron Dayne 1999
Chris Wienke 2000
Steve Spurrier 1966

But I agree winning the Heisman is not a barometer of how someone will play in the NFL nor should it be. Heck just because someone is selected in the 1st round is no guarantee they will ever become a good NFL player. What round was Montana taken in the 4th I believe.?

I live in Michigan, as well. I devoured crow.

The funny thing, it took some people until Wednesday to realize I was around and rub it in.
