As we probably know, ND is heading down south to Atlanta to host a satellite football camp with Georgia State. I'm wondering what you all think about the possible boost ND will get in the south, recruiting-wise from these events now taking place. Personally this opens up many doors that were usually never open or eventually closed on us.

On a side note, is Irish Invasion still happening regardless of this event, or is this in lieu of II?

Is there any information on what recruits/high school coaches will be in attendance yet?

Probably won't find out until the Summer. I can imagine there will be high-level recruits a plenty though. Not expecting it to be a huge gathering of 5-star elites, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of 4-stars and maybe a few 5-stars in attendance. This, in my opinion, gives guys who are "looking" at ND a chance to actually LOOK at ND for once. Rather than just saying "Oh yeah, I'm looking at ND, they've got great academics", they'll actually have that open relationship with the coaches from the start. A meeting in the middle.

I don't see ND making a ton of headway in the way of a 4 or 5 star player. Those recruits that are already on the map require a lot of attention. That's not to say it won't help if we're already in on said player and one of the favorites, but those kids are more likely to be swayed after they've heard the entire recruiting pitch from the top schools they're considering. I really think the positive from this camp is the ability for the staff to identify talent in the South that may have been overlooked or underrated. Whether or not we land any of those kids....

And even that would be enough to warrant this camp as a success. I don't agree that it won't make headway with 4-5 star players. More than likely this won't get us a 5-star southern talent, but it's not like ND is unfamiliar with one of those. More than likely this will help us land the Isaac Rochelle's of those areas. Guys that come from a prominent academic background (Eagles Landing Christian, Marist, St Pius, Woodward, Chamblee, etc.). Very solid-high 4-star guys that could very well front this '16 class. If we pick up a few 3-star and low 4-stars along the way? All the better. I'm all for any southern talent that this staff can muster.

I agree that the this will be probably be the biggest initial impact. I do believe that if the staff continues this for multiple years it will have an impact on those 4 and 5 star players as we'll be developing relationships with their coaches or previous players.

A nugget or two might be discovered but I suspect more value will come from the interaction with ND coaches and local HS coaches. They won't be meeting them for the first time when they visit a HS. Networking which the local colleges have previously held an exclusive.

Exactly true. Most people on this board would probably be surprised about the level of ignorance of ND by southern kids. Often, their only knowledge is of ND getting it's butt kicked by an SEC team in a big bowl and that only if it happened in the last few years. Everyone around them their entire lives talks about how awesome it is to be a player for Bama, FSU, UF, Georgia, etc. - nothing about ND, ever.

Get more coaches in the network and the kids can have someone they trust to talk to them about ND, what ND is, what going to school there means, etc. This camp is a great idea and they should do it every year.

Probably have a thread for this but on my phone with bad service, is the Irish Invasion scheduled yet? I believe this is going to be an annual event.

I distinctly remember it being declared an annual event. Though, I don't believe it's been scheduled. Still too far out.
