I saw the opinion of WhoDeyIrish on Golden being an Ego Maniac and thinking he will go pro. With all due respect, I know Golden pretty well and he is FAR FROM an ego maniac. He is actually a very good kid, with a lot of confidence and a bit of swagg. Just what it takes to be a great player. Deffinately not arrogant though.

As for him going pro, I sure hope not. From the conversations i have had with him, the impression i get is that he will be sticking around for one more year of football, as well as baseball!... He lovessss it at ND, and IMO i see him staying one more.

Very good to hear..Guess I'm wrong. He just seems a bit arrogant, I don't care if he is or not. I love the guy. Don't care if he is cocky, confident, as long as he keeps putting up numbers. I think people took what I said the wrong way. I hope he doesn't go pro either...but sometimes when money calls. I still think he is 50/50. Thanks for the insight.

I think everyone isn't understanding that this is the last year of the NFL not having a cap on rookie draft picks, everyone that can go pro will go pro

How good is he at baseball? Would he be a multi pro athlete? Shark stuck around, so maybe GT will too.

yeah i don't think he is so much as arrogant more of just confident in his abilities. which i have no problem with. that's what this team needs, to know they can win no matter who they play.

Thank you, plus next year might be an uncapped year for the NFL. Rookie Salary Cap is a good idea for the league in my opinion.

the thing is how many players from ND actually leave early. not very many at all. some don't apply for a fifth year to go pro, but that is different from leaving early. i don't know what it is but there is a different brand of player that comes to Notre Dame. and i really just can't see any one leaving early, some people don't think just about the money.

Hmmm... the same reason Claussen came to ND was to build his career for the NFL, something tells me when he is rated as the number 1 ready NFL qb, he's bolting... it just makes sense.

If he stays I will be shocked and ecstatic

I agree with everything everyone is saying, but how often are Juniors at Notre Dame #1 QB back prospects, and Top 5 receiving prospects? Recently

I agree! Players like an ND degree especially if it comes with an NC!

it won't bother me if either one of them goes pro at all, but i don't think it is a for sure thing that clausen is going pro. just like mccoy, tebow, and bradford they would have been sure fire first round picks, or high second round picks but every single one of them came back.

now i know most will say well look at bradford and people will not want to take that risk, but that same risk goes with driving in a car or walking down the street. you can get hurt at any point.

Golden is a fantastic athlete and a great college receiver. But NFL teams dont spend first round picks on wideouts that are 5'11" and have only played receiver for 3 years. Golden will be a longtime pro but if you arent going to be a first round pick, you shouldnt leave, IMHO

Sports Illustrated writer Andy Staples came out with an article recently saying that if you have a 50% chance of going in the first round to take it. If Jimmy is the number one QB and Golden is a borderline 1st round wide receiver, I would tell them to go. I think Charlie will probably tell them both what is in their best interest, and also how the team stacks up next year. Obviously I really hope both stay, but would not fault them for leaving at all. If your goal from going to school is to put yourself in a position to make the most money, and your are currently in that position, then it's in your best interest to leave. Tough call, they have unfinished business here which could be the deciding factor.

Colt McCoy won't go in the first round...I really don't think any team is dumb enough to take him in the first round. Then again. There is Al Davis. There are several QB's I would take ahead of him.

Just to play devil's advocate, why? He is incredibly accurate, good arm, good mobility, has played and won big games, whats not to like?

His accuracy is terrible, his arm is weak, he IS mobile...

And he's played absolutely dreadful against the tough teams on his schedule.

If Jamarcus Russell can be the top pick, someone will take McCoy. Anyway, I'd like think Golden and Jimmy stay, but I doubt they even know at this point.

Wow Golden never struck me as arrogant, actually quite the contrary. Always seemed pretty humble to me which makes you like the guy even more.

Agree with the Colt McCoy comments. I really don't see the reason for the hype around this kid. He's average in my opinion.

Golden is a very good baseball player too.. He got drafted to the MLB out of high school as an outfielder, and has improved quite a bit since then. I agree with the comments about the salary cap next year in the NFL, but i d k i just know he loves being at Notre Dame, and living the life there. Plus i think he is unsure as to which sport he wants to play.

I stay at their place when i go up there for games, so i will surely try to find out more when i go up next !

Colt McCoy is below average...he is accurate in passes under 5 yards. After that he can't complete them. I think Texas just has so much talent around him that it makes him play better. He does not have a strong arm. He is mobile, but barely, and I think his accuracy isn't going to be good. I guess I'm using the wrong word for Tate Swagger in my opinion is cocky confidence and a certain amount of arrogance.

He is an average Pro prospect and a great college QB. He does find a way to make things happen on his own alot like Doug Flutie did. Not sure how well that works in the NFL in the long run. He can't do much worse than Russell and Quinn have so far.

Anybody can do better than Russell. Hell my 7 year old plays football with more passion in the back yard. I swear that guy is huffing paint or something. Best quote I heard about Russell & I think it was by Ditka... "Give a lazy guy a million dollars & all you got is a lazy millionaire"

Quinn on the other hand just needs to get out of Cleveland & somewhere that runs an offense that he's comfortable under with a staff that will give him time to develop. Why Cleveland isnt playing him now is beyond me. Your season is shot so let the kid learn & get comfortable. It's deeply saddening to watch what they're doing with somebody that has some much talent & tremendous amount of potential.

Dont forget to throw Leinhart in that lump of disappointing QB's ;)

The cap isn't going to be unreasonable. The kids are still going to be making ridiculous money. I would have loved my first job out of college being in 6 figures let along these people in the millions even with the cap.

He bats a .329. He hit maybe a dozen triples this year and stole a ton of bases, as well.

Russel had limitless potential. he had great size and great arm strength. Colt McCoy does not have a strong arm, is undersized, and doesnt play in a pro style offense. He, like Tebow, will be drafted but not in the 1st round. Botheare projects in the NFL
