A year is more than enough to tell if a guy will succeed in a role. This isn't a case of bad luck, or some other excuse, that would allow Parker to be forgiven for the bad year on offense; the guy is just clueless.

I hope Freeman realizes that his job is on the line as it comes to Parker. If he brings him back, it very well might cost him his role as NDHFC.
And it should cost him his job if the offense is the reason for any losses next year. Dump this turd. Continuing to say stupid things instead of owning mistakes is a real shortcoming to growth. It’s obvious his ego is in the way of his progressing in his current role. Go coach high school or take a position gig at a lower level school where he barely belongs.

Tim Hyde is making a lot out of the fact Parker has only had one year. But it was obviously a fallback, something of a panic hire, to begin with and most people (everyone) knew that at the time. so, one play one life. That was last years play on to the next one. You don't re-up.

Freeman needs to do everything he can to retain the RB coach, Golden and Mickens including promotions and meanwhile go out and get the best OC in the whole country. If the school doesn't support him he should throw them under the bus the way BK did on his way out.

He needs to get Watts, Tyree and maybe Kiser to come back.

Get Angeli in in the second half against Wake Forrest. Or Mickens if he is better.
I don't think we bring any of the linebackers back. Its time to move on and let the others take over, keeping kiser and playing him in bertrands role would just stunt growth.

Assistant coaches are going to leave. It's the nature of the business and however delicate people's football sensibilities are, it's just the fact of the matter. McCullough is likely going to get some interest for G5 HC jobs, and if he has HC ambitions, he's gotta go. Nobody is getting any younger.

It is with that being said that Notre Dame OC is going to be an attractive position for a lot of external candidates. They can open this job up again and having learned from their mistakes last year give it another go with finding someone to replace Rees, which is essentially what they'd be doing in my mind.

Mickens needs to get himself a DC job. If Golden stays, Mickens should go. If Golden leaves, I’m tempted to elevate Mickens to DC. DMC needs to get his OC job. Even if GP is demoted/fired, MF can’t afford to go the first time OC route.

But he can afford to go 1st time DC route?

wow marion is an interesting option I forgot about, but I gotta think he'll be a head coach next year right? If not write him a blank check.

He's only 36 and was just OC of UNLV for 2023. I don't know who would be looking at him for HC, but he's certainly ready for P5 OC jobs. UNLV's turnaround this year is largely attributed to his offense.

How that offense translates to Power Five is going to be the question. It's worked everywhere else.

I could see San Diego St. going after him as head coach TBH. He's a great recruiter and now has experience on the west coast.

I would love to have him

I'm a fan I read his book about the Go Go Offense. He gets results.

ND OC or G5 HC would be a massive step for him, but he's earned it, because again....results. It isn't so much about potential or recruiting garbage. His offenses score points, he's doing innovative things few if any others are doing, he's done it now at multiple stops along the way and has worked his way up.

Agree 100%

and MF needs to swing for the fences early to get into this race b/c he will be a popular commodity and unfortunately it could turn into a bidding war, which we have shown in the past of having no chance of winning.

PS what's the name of that book?

Relative to other top 10 football programs, ND is cheap. If something doesn't change this program is history.

Not paying Ludwig was one of ND’s best moves this off season. His offense is ass.

To be fair, ND didn't balk at Ludwig's salary. It was his buyout. I think ND has proven their willingness to pay the salary these days...

Here's where they fucked up -- they should've had buyout money from Rees. But because they're clowns, they didn't enforce a buyout on him, so they didn't have the money to pay Ludwig's buyout. It's supposed to be sum zero.

Brutal. The whole OC transaction, from start to finish. Pure amateur hour. I wonder if this was a side effect of Swarbrick having one foot out the door and virtually no equity in the end results...

Great point.

Which brings us next to Al Golden....
