Nick Saban went away from ball control, run the damn ball offense because it no longer works in modern football. So Freeman better either 1. be a better coach than the greatest coach of all time or 2. change his philosophy.

If he doesn't:

Are sure MMFF isn’t all in on Tressel ball because of his current personnel? I mean look at our WR room. Until we’re fully restocked an air raid system might be even less prolific than a ball control offense and force our D to be on the field way more.

Do you believe everything you read from the get-go? Or do you not wait for more information and facts to be presented before having an sharing such a definitive and concrete opinion?
I mean II wouldn't post it without having some reason to believe it. ISD has hinted at such as well. So to answer your question, Yes. I will believe what I have read.

Ay?

Ian Book 34/6 in 2019
Burrow 5700 yards 60/6 in 2019
Not sure what we’re even arguing anymore but that OSU team was 8th in the nation in total offense that year under Tressel

Don’t let the sweater vest fool you he ran an up to date and effective offense too

Text has no emotion...I thought we were on the same page laughing at the fact Smith won the Heisman 20 years ago with such average numbers compared to todays game.

And you're just all-in with it right away? Theorized was the key word being used. It is open for interpretation as all theories are, but there has been nothing reported as fact, let alone having more information to go off of.

I'd be curious to know more and getting a larger picture than just whispers and theories.

The only thing I'm sure of is the offense is a soup sandwich!

Man I’m having a hard time believing that Freeman is the one holding Parker back. I understand the style of football he’s trying to put in place, but there’s no way the results match that theory. Quite frankly our personnel should be able to pull off the power run, play action style that Freeman has referenced. We just don’t seem to be scheming to what we can do well. Very puzzling.

because he's following orders..

Ah yes:

MFMF: Ok, GP, I want you to run the ball, I don't care if we go 3/out every time.

GP: Golly coach, I sure can do that sir, yessir, but can we pass it on 1st down too?

MFMF: NO, never pass the ball unless it is 3/12 and we are backed up to the goal line.

GP: Oh gee whiz bang, mmmm hmmm, yessir

Well, we do know that Freeman interjected himself into playcalling last year with Rees. Do we really think it'd be that surprising if he did with Parker?

Yeah, the most famous one was a pass to MM against Clemson when the game was already in hand...doesn't exactly scream super conservative RTDB...

HC should be involved with playcalling on key, game on the line, decisions IMO. Unless Freeman is telling Parker "run the ball on almost all first downs", "don't use play action", and "don't give Sam the option to audible, ever" than idk how he's at fault for the majority of the problems with the offense. Wide Receiver depth + Interior OL issues are also major challenges.

that was the safest play call ever, just like the run vs duke was the safest play call ever.

Let me know when freeman tells the OC to have a game plan that involves PA's from the get go vs a loaded box, or passing the ball heavily in the first half.

I guess I'm mostly surprised that people are coming to this thread wanting to know why Parker is still employed. Do people legitimately think he was going to be let go today?

I seriously can't wrap my head around Marcus Freeman trying to hire Andy Ludwig less than a year ago only to now be directing Parker to run an offense this way. Those two things really do contradict each other, don't they?

I think this makes the most sense. The o line isn’t great at pass blocking and all of the most experienced receivers on the roster were done for the season by game three or thereabouts.

That being said the run game could be waaaay more creative.

Let go today or moved or role modified, yes. A public statement about it, NO.

ludwig runs a balanced but run first offense.

Parker shouldn’t have taken the job if he didn’t think he could excel under MF’s parameters.

I like MF’s offensive philosophy in general but there are better guys out there in scheming and qb development than Parker

So the young, hip, handsome, fresh head coach with the banging fit and killer drip wants to play offensive football like it's the 1960s.

I'm starting to wonder if Jerry Reinsdorf owns Notre Dame Football.

I like it. Talent wins anyway. You don’t need a Lincoln Riley basketball offense to win. Get some stud receivers and a seasoned play caller with a great D we’d be rolling.

He also has a wife that doesn't work and 6 kids....... that's so 1960's

Edit - Sense of humor is needed at this time, and i'm shocked my joke wasn't appreciated more ( I didn't and wouldn't ever say anything negative about his or any family)

I'm not in *love* with MF's offensive philosophy, but it absolutely can work in today's game. Georgia and Michigan are doing just fine playing that kind of offense.

They just have the wrong OC, a QB who apparently gets spooked after 54 starts and no receivers.

To play devil's advocate, if someone offered me a substantial raise for a job I really wasn't qualified for I'd take it.
