I’d let Parker go tomorrow or at least demote him. Let Gio call the O from here on out.
You need to move on and find a new OC next year. It was maybe worth a shot to let your buddy be OC for a test with Hartman coming in, but it didn’t work out. Hartman has looked like garbage & you can’t just blame Sam.
You have 3-4 chances to get out to your 20 yard line after being pinned deep and you fail miserably. Sorry dude, back to position coach.

Again you can’t demote him. You have to fire him. You can’t risk the off field personnel issues that this will cause.

Did we ever throw to a WR that was 1 on 1 down field?
Tobias and Tobias said… nah, not right to me so I’m not going to move and try to get it

Hate to say it but scUM’s scheme, creativity and execution are light years ahead of ND. It’s hard to watch. Yes i know they struggled a bit but they had a lot of drops.

What are those? You make Gino co-OC and play caller. For two games. They’re all on the same team here.

I don’t wish any ill will toward Parker but I hope he never calls another play for ND. I don’t think you can realistically demote him back to TE coach either.
why not? he may be happy enough as TE coach.

Evans has been our go to guy on offense this year so with his injury - what adjustments did we even make today?

Our most productive players on offense now are clearly Tyree (slot), Estime, Price and Love. Why are we still running 2-3 tight end sets and not putting some combo of those 4 on the field at all times? You know what makes calling plays easier? When the defense has more things to worry about than you bringing everyone into the box then trying to run counter 13 times on first down.

What happened to our two back sets? Did we run those today at all?

We couldn’t get anyone open passing today. If you still want to have 1-2 tight ends on the field, then have them stay in to block and let one of our incredibly more athletic RBs run a route against a linebacker. Let them run an angle route, seam fade or wheel route on a linebacker and I guarantee we have more success than we did today.

There is frankly no excuse moving forward not to have at least 2/4 of those players on the field for 90% of our offensive snaps.

Just not working out. The in-game adjustments (lack thereof), poor third-down play calling, and some truly bad scheming. I'm not sure he's shown enough potential to warrant keeping his job. It's unfortunate, and has hindered the Freeman Era.

Freeman will have to swallow this experiment as an L and try to find the right guy next season. And the administration, if buyouts where truly the main reason why certain candidates were not fully offered a job, need to get passed a few million dollars.

The good news is if you dump Parker now you’re at the front of the line for OC hires and hopefully you can get one signed up early enough that they can recruit their preferred QB out of the portal.
Sort of the opposite of what happened when Rees left late in the cycle.
BTW, he doesn't have to fire Parker... Make him the TE coach again

It's not that hard, just look at the top 50 offenses here and start researching, get to a target list and start interviewing. Let's go

Joe Moorhead man.

Akron is one of the worse jobs in college football. He was a name rumoured to be floating around last off-season, whether he actually interviewed or not. Akron gave him a extension and raise just not keep him from leaving, but that type of deal is only worth its weight for a single season.

The defense weathered the storm and continually put the offense in position to tie the game. The offense continually failed over and over again.

I’ll echo the above with my small knowledge of offensive play design, everything seems hard. We are running 2-3 tight end sets still with Evans out - why? The playcalling before end of half with 1st and goal from the 3 was horrendous.

Why aren’t > 50% of our pass plays out of play action? We barely run 10% play action.

1st down 13-15 were runs at one point. If we did try to pass on first down and incomplete, the 2nd and 10 run is still an automatic. Why?

If the line is getting beat late in the game, why not move the pocket and roll out?

I feel our route design concepts do not scheme a soul open. There is no where to throw the ball. Why?

I don’t know the answers to this, but I guarantee you there’s an OC that does. One that has an identity and a purpose for the plays being called. Right now there is no identity or purpose with our formations and play design.
Incredible that my 10% guess was 2x too high. Truly unbelievable based on how we run the ball.

When you see the stats how do you not fire this guy? And if freeman is holding it up how do you not fire him?
Often times it’s pride. Especially when you’re the guy that just hired him. Freeman firing his hand picked (kind of) OC, 10 games into his tenure, is admitting he made a horrible decision. Easier to just talk about execution.
