Through 8 games it's obvious he isn't the guy for the job. He has nothing but solid players around him on offense, and clearly a great D (something he may not have again for a few years). This is a situation where if MF wants to be "that guy" in the college coaching world, he needs to have a come to touchdown Jesus meeting with GP. If he doesn't move on from GP, he would essentially be letting GP dictate the trajectory of his life as a head coach. I've seen enough from him, that if it were me.....He'd have to be demoted. If he sticks with him, and this putrid offense, he deserves anything and everything that comes from this decision.

Agreed. He's made mistakes and has very evident faults. That being said, there are quite a few things working against him that are not helping matters any.

Really feels like Thomas and Greathouse getting injured began the shit storm, but there were some things in the CMU game that raised some red flags for sure.

This bye week comes at a very good time on multiple levels.
Yeah, I think we are waaay understating how deficient this WR group really is. This is from Saturday's game:

Jaden Greathouse - 32 snaps. True Freshman (injured)
Chris Tyree - 21 snaps - First year WR
Rico Flores Jr - 16 snaps - True Freshman
Tobias Merriweather - 16 snaps - Sophomore that had 1 catch as a Freshman (injured)
Jordan Faison - 12 snaps - True Freshman that was scout team three weeks ago
Jayden Thomas - 6 snaps - Projected #1 receiver at beginning of season (injured)

I would have to dig into it, but I doubt there is another top 20 team that is anywhere close to this lack of experience in the WR group.

Yeah, but I don't think that's a good excuse to have your offense set up in obvious run looks, watch the defense load 8-9 guys in the box, then run right into the teeth of it behind the 3 weakest parts of your OL. Repeatedly.

Agree but there's 5 4 star recruits there and that's not including James and Colzie. WR is one of the easier positions to play and excel at without a ton of experience. Good Wrs typically explode their sophmore years even with minimal experience as a frosh.

I think the bigger issue is either 1 part development and 2 parts injury, or 2 parts injury and 1 part development. I can't figure out which one yet.

I want and hope our WR issues are injury, but they looked bad vs NC State and Ohio State when fully healthy.

Maybe, but I only care about this one.

This becomes a problem when you have one or two or even three bad cycles at a position. By the time you catch up, there is a sense of urgency among everyone to get people moving up the depth chart but we're still talking about true freshmen stepping into major roles that they're likely not ready for.

What I find interesting is how many of the same people are tearing Parker down are also the same ones that tore down Rees and Del for all of that time about the lack of recruiting. The shit people went on bitching about forever is manifesting right before our eyes and there has to be some acknowledgement of that with relation to Parker. The reliance of a converted RB and walk on lacrosse player is not ideal, and it's only likely to magnify the faults of an OC regardless of who it is.

I'm sure Freeman, Parker and Stuckey would love to just dip into The Portal or JUCO and shell out NIL money to some All World WR, but the best they can really do is recruit guys in and they're doing that to this point. Greathouse and Flores have been given opportunities. Gilbert and Williams should get theirs too.

Consistent recruiting is only going to help. You may not get a bunch of five starts, but you have to find ballers that want to be here and get them into the program to run them up the pipeline. The situation at WR has come to a boil a little bit.

That's what my team did in HS so.....

I am a big believer it making off season trips to see other coaches and pick their brains about scheme, play calling, etc. This is 100% something that needs to be done as much as possible, and for an offensive staff like this one that has very limited play calling experience on it, they should take some time to get out on the road to learn some shit whenever they're not recruiting.

First stop would be Miami Dolphins HQ.

Well if they are planning to keep G-Rad and make no changes, then he at least better be doing this in the offseason 100%!

Looking back at the USC tape I’m becoming a fan of Parker. He just needs to clean up his 3rd and short game.

can you look back at the OSU, Duke, Louisville games please

I do think it was better vs USC, but the bar was so stinking low going into that game.

I still can't comprehend how SAM doesn't have options when he gets to the LOS.

Next Monday Freeman PC - "After having time this past week to really self scout our team, we realized as a staff, you know, collective offensive group, as i've stated we're all in this together, anyways, we realized we are not giving our offense favorable opportunities, whether that's in the run or pass game. We need to be, as i call it a more dynamic offense vs static offense. Meaning, having the ability to change things up based on what the defense gives us in real time. We have made some changes and we look forward to seeing them in action vs Pittsburgh"

The sceptic in me says I'll believe it when I see it... But I am open minded and will give this new-found O Epiphany the benefit of the doubt and hope they crush Pitt! ☘️

Will we have a WR this year have 5 more more catches in a game and or a WR with over 100 yards in a game?

I believe and I'm assuming we haven't had either in our first 8 games.

Would be impressive to not have a wr eclipse 5 receptions or a wr to not have 100 yards in a game for an entire season. Might not have happened last year either with mayer getting the most. I know Staes had over 100 yards vs NC state and mayer did a few times I think last year.

I bring this up because we have sam hartman, who can pass the frichan ball downfield and is very accurate with short throws. At some point we need some WRs to get healthy and step up, and parker to make the offense hum.
