Why? The last five minutes. WHY.
Correct. Hartman HAS to make that marker. No excuse for a six year senior to not get that first down.I agree on points except Harman was clearly short of the line to gain. The ball was in his right hand and he showed zero awareness on where he was on the field.
The game was a total gut punch. It wasn't lost on one play or one coaching mistake.
It was a series of about 15 things that if just one of those didn't happen, we win.
That's why it was so devastating.
Utah’s offense hasn’t exactly set the world on fire this season. I understand they are missing Cam Rising, but they have looked pretty bad to average on O all season. It's hard not to notice that OSU hired one of the best DCs in the country in Knowles. ND tried to hire one of the best OCs in country in Ludwig, and Swarbrick vetoed that because of the expense.
That said, correct play-calling at the end (run the ball) and we win. But still with only 14 points.
He actually did, he did a basic run play and estime got 11. I knew we were going to win there because our line was pushing them and they were gassed. Instead of going back to it, he runs a fancy run play and it gets blown up by one guy, with no estime in the game.I don't have many issues with Parker tbh. I think he's done an ok job. But...
1) His 4th down play calls were a joke
2) RTDB to close out games when you have the lead. OSU's DL was gassed. Why didn't he lean on Estime and ND's OL in the last series? Force OSU to use TOs to stop the clock. Get a first down and the game is basically over.
3) Were there any play-action calls? I might've missed some, but I noticed a lot of times where OSU's front 7 was crashing and DBs were cheating on the run. I felt Parker could've utilized Hartman better in getting TEs and WRs over the top. Force OSU's DBs to cover and force the refs to have to make calls (which they were horrendous at all night, but you still have to do it).
correct, we keep running this slow developing run play with estime on first downs early in games that gets 0-2 yards and puts us behind.Seemed behind the eight ball more than not after first down, especially in the first half.
First down play calling and execution against the elite need an upgrade. Something to work on against Duke.

No, but in all likelihood Andy Ludwig is >>> Gerad ParkerND fans think Andy Ludwig is Bill Walsh. Be all, end all
No, but there's very little chance Ludwig (or someone equally experienced), scores 14 with this QB/RBs/OL.ND fans think Andy Ludwig is Bill Walsh. Be all, end all
We don’t know that and never willNo, but there's very little chance Ludwig (or someone equally experienced), scores 14 with this QB/RBs/OL.
We may not KNOW, but we know...We don’t know that and never will
Yeah I like some of what he's doing. I don't like that we never use tempo, i don't like his play calling in big moments. I don't like he's accepting this 5 back rotation that has at times our best player on the bench wayyyy too much.I think Parker has overall done a good job this year. Better than Ludwig would have done? No way of knowing. The knock against Parker was he’s unproven and the plus for Ludwig is that he was proven at Utah. Parker may end up being better, no one knows but I’d say so far he’s exceeded overall expectations based on the initial hiring comments made by many. There is still a lot of football to be played, maybe we should look at his overall body of work at season‘s end to see how he did. I’d prefer that he is successful but we’ll have to wait and see.
They were down to QB3 at one point. They've won games against Florida of the mighty SEC, Baylor and UCLA.Utah’s offense hasn’t exactly set the world on fire this season. I understand they are missing Cam Rising, but they have looked pretty bad to average on O all season.
Well it's a good thing that Flores and Greathouse have seemed like our two best WRs all season...

Why no mitchapalooza on the 4th down plays? Its never not worked.
Why no mitchapalooza on the 4th down plays? Its never not worked. I know it was a Rees play, but Parker has ran it a couple times earlier in the year.
Also of note, of Hartman hands that ball off on that funky looking counter play that Tuimoloau blew up, there's a good chance we fumble that ball.
Don't get cute. Just straight up run the fucking ball down their throats. That's pee wee football shit.
i agree specially after estime just ran for 11 yards on the previous play. Why no mitchapalooza on the 4th down plays? Its never not worked. I know it was a Rees play, but Parker has ran it a couple times earlier in the year.

He was not clearly short. The one and only replay they showed seemed to confirm the football crossed the line to gain before he was out of bounds despite what the announcers said. It doesn't matter where the ball is when the ball first crosses out of bounds. Instead, it matters where the ball is when Hartman is officially out of bounds, and he was not officially out of bounds until his right foot touches out of bounds well beyond the line to gain. Once his right foot touches, look at where the ball is. It certainly looks like it is well past the line to gain. For some reason, the announcers focused on where Cody Simon hit Hartman as he was going out of bounds but didn't focus on where the ball was once he touched out of bounds. Regardless, there was no indisputable video evidence showing he was short. If anything, the evidence actually confirmed the original spot.I agree on points except Harman was clearly short of the line to gain. The ball was in his right hand and he showed zero awareness on where he was on the field.
