I will say they should have done something to take some shots. There was no point in bringing here if you aren’t going to use him.

Eh…his play calling is predictable. There needs to be a mix of early down passing to help keep the defense honest. Nothing about the call sequence of the game kept Ohio State off balance, ND was pushing them around despite the plodding game plan.

This run when you can and pass when you have to offense is not what the team needs. Mix up the play call sheet and trust the QB you paid for.

Anyone who’s hating on Parker can go fly a kite the dude had a good game calling plays minus the last drive. With Rees and Kelly you woulda gotten rush rush rush right up the middle and punt all night
Rees scored 4 less points last year in Columbus with Buchner at QB and less receiving talent. Try again.

I think the offense looked much better this year than last, not even close. The failed 4th and 1’s and the missed field goal really put a damper on more points. I still think Estime made one of the 3rd and short before Hartman‘s failed sneak to the left. I thought the sneak there was not a great call. I also thought the 4th and 1 where Hartman ran out of bounds right by the sticks, he woulda/shoulda/coulda cut it up field slightly earlier (although I thought he made it anyway). Should have had more than 14 without a doubt.

14 points and Hartman didn’t excecute on 2 4th and 1’s that’s not Parker’s Fault. Also 14 points against 3 NFL 1st rounders on the DL and another corner projected early second round is pretty good. We moved the ball really well
It’s like you’re complacent…you’re content with just being competitive

No way the refs should have reversed the call on the field.

Yes, early on (Navy?) he did. I wonder if he couldn’t last night due to Evans coming out of concussion protocol? That’s the only thing I could think of.
Did you see oSU's alignment on that Hartman sneak?. They had four DT's between our three interior OLM. No way you're winning that straight ahead. The audible should be to a RB dive off tackle, preferably behind Alt, not a off tackle sneak.

Yep. I'm not there yet, mentally, to watch it again but that play was the killer. Not sure what was going on but it seemed like Hartman ate it rather than risk a fumble. Then their all-world DE made an incredibly athletic play on the screen pass, but it was a fine call.
Yeah its funny how easy it is to second guess unsuccessful offensive plays. #44 blew up both those plays after being a non factor the whole game. Thinking he'd be overagressive on the fake handoff and the screen pass made sense but he didn't bite on either. I'm sure Parker's thinking if we run Estime up the middle three times they stop us and the fans bitch about us "playing not to lose".

Which they are doing anyway.

Does playing not to lose mean you don't lose? They didn't have to use their timeouts. Don't put their DE in a position to make that play by calling a pass there.

If Sam sees #44 on that final drive screen, JD Price scores a TD and we're up 21-10. If you rewatch, look at the defenders and blockers ahead of him. It was inches away, many times over.

Correct he had 3 blockers, 2 defenders and the entire field to use those 3 blockers to his advantage. It was a house call that Sam just didnt put enough air under otherwise all the talk is how brilliant of a call it was.

I loved the call. Screens to RBs are very low risk with experienced QBs. Was one Sam wishes he could have back.

Where were the perimeter pitches that worked so well last week? Why run into teeth over and over?

Because Ohio State has much better athletes outside than Central Michigan? Also last night I kind of figured we were setting up the play-action deep ball, but we never really went there.

They also have better interior DL and LBs. I'll take my chances with Estime running at their corners at least once in a while to mix it up. I could be wrong but at least try it twice.

The double rb set would allow for some good outside runs, they still have to play the fake inside

We actually had a lot of success every time we ran to the perimeter. The 2nd 4th down play where Hartman got stuffed on the keeper should have been a toss sweep to the right side when we saw OSU's formation and the numbers we had.

Sam probably wishes he had the whole game back. He was not good enough last night. I hope its just a one off because we will see some more defenses of the caliber of Ohio St this year and the cup cakes are mostly behind us.

He was great last night. We were too scared to actually let him throw.

Missed opportunities early and a blunder late. Everything else in-between was pretty solid.

This. This right here.

Plus a bunch of little things that all did not go our way.

- 1st drive: they pick up a late hit flag. WHAT?
- 1Q hartman’s scramble for a first down on 4th down is overturned. It was originally called a first down. What did replay show that was indisputable to overturn it?
- 2 big pass plays that we forced incompletions on and they get PI tagged on. Well they changed Morrison’s from holding to PI because there was literally no hold.
- we get to McCord on third down finally and he throws the ball straight up. Tipped a few times and hits Stover’s head and he catches it for a first down.
- 2 very obvious pass interference/hold on 2 of the few deep balls we threw and no flags.
- the game winning touchdown was MUCH closer than it appeared. There’s another angle that shows his right knee down and he’s right at the line but can’t tell. Impossible to overturn when called a TD on the field.

I agree on points except Harman was clearly short of the line to gain. The ball was in his right hand and he showed zero awareness on where he was on the field.

The game was a total gut punch. It wasn't lost on one play or one coaching mistake.
It was a series of about 15 things that if just one of those didn't happen, we win.
That's why it was so devastating.

Appreciate it. I was at the game and they showed only one replay on the Jumbotron and it was from above the field and you couldn’t see anything.
