I think this guy has done an amazing job thus far and unlike what we have seen the past decade - actually makes halftime adjustments! Now with that said this is his first REAL test.
that would be an improvement vs what happened vs NC state first 8 (non punt) plays. Our first 8 plays of the game went for -11 yards vs nc state.Hopefully he avoids the first series being this:
1st Down: run up the middle into a loaded box for 1 yd gain
2nd Down: run up the middle into a loaded box for 2 yd gain
3rd Down: complete a pass that is short of the first down
4th Down: punt
I was picturing something similar, like the shot to Will Fuller against USC a few years back. Hitting them hard in the cashews early pumping up the crowd and the defense would be ideal.First down gimme a play-action, high air yard shot to Merriweather that outgains the Styles play last year.
I’m sure they’ll have a few tricks up their sleeves and it’ll be easier to pull off with such an experienced QB.I’m still convinced they haven’t opened up a lot of the playbook yet.
Even though we overshot fuller at FSU, first play of the game was a statementFirst down gimme a play-action, high air yard shot to Merriweather that outgains the Styles play last year.
Your post got me thinking. A while back I posted an article about Rudolph. It talked about how he runs a lot more duo than Harry did and overall hardly resembles what Harry liked. So OSU is going to be facing a considerably different O-line than they did last year.We definitely have some go to run plays but those can be disguised with different formations. And that's how it should be really.
We seem to love power and counter trey. Duo maybe being the next one on the list as it did great for us last year.
The biggest thing would be different route concepts and blocking schemes. They have been very vanilla so far.I’m sure they’ll have a few tricks up their sleeves and it’ll be easier to pull off with such an experienced QB.
Agreed.I’m still convinced they haven’t opened up a lot of the playbook yet.
I've been day drinking so forgive my French, but I love the counter trey so much I'd like to rub my d#@k against it.We definitely have some go to run plays but those can be disguised with different formations. And that's how it should be really.

To build on that, I think they’ve established some tendencies to get OSU to study and throw some wrinkles in. Should be a fun chess match.I’m still convinced they haven’t opened up a lot of the playbook yet.

Their fans are saying the same to me about Day.I’m still convinced they haven’t opened up a lot of the playbook yet.
And did you politely tell them to go fuck themselves? Respectfully of course.Their fans are saying the same to me about Day.
Against a styles??? Oh wait that one is redshirting as a junior lmaoFirst down gimme a play-action, high air yard shot to Merriweather that outgains the Styles play last year.
This right here. We should see a few wrinkles thrown in, but it’s highly unlikely we see a significant change. Just a few curveballs to keep them guessing.Part of me thinks they haven't had to do much vs the level of competition and are saving some things for strategy. The other part of me thinks that Sam Hartman can pretty much digest whatever because despite coming from Ruggiero's slow mesh WF offense, Sam Hartman is a football smart dude. I don't know what big surprises they could be holding onto for this game, but they have a lot more games left after this one.
I hope there are some new wrinkles we see going forward, but the last thing anyone should want is that they start outcoaching themselves and get too cute with it. You've got Estime. No need to reinvent the wheel.
Could have sworn it looked like Hartman pulled it.Well Jerry Porker turned back into a pumpkin. Shot ourselves in the foot on too many drives and on the drive at the end where we had a chance to ice it we got way too cute. If they ran the ball three times after getting that second first down the game is over.
The worst part though was the hurry up QB sneak which was insane given how Ohio State lined up.
This. 2 more first downs it was over. Should have ridden Estimate and Love.Well Jerry Porker turned back into a pumpkin. Well this is Freeman’s fault for saying no run the ball.
Sad that we lost because of below average coaching.
